The primary role of the Shipping Supervisor at our super plant in Sioux City, IA is first to ensure a safe and clean work environment and then to lead and direct plant and off site shipping and warehousing activities to ensure orders are banded, stored, and delivered according to customer requirements and organization goals are achieved. Manages and coordinates the efforts of hourly employees.

•Prioritizes and assigns work, and monitors safety, quality and quantity of the work performed.
•Communicates department and plant goals.
•Serves as coach and counselor for department employees regarding performance.
•Schedules shipments and dock times; dispatches loads.
•Orders materials, parts, and supplies as required.
•Implements continuous improvement projects and cost reduction ideas.
•Manages trailers for optimum utilization.
•Takes and maintaining accurate inventories.
•Ensures employees perform required inspections and tests.
•Follows all safety rules and practices.
•Prepares and maintains accurate records.
•Builds department teamwork.
What you need to succeed:
The ideal candidate will be a team-builder, action-oriented individual and have the ability to lead and hold people accountable.
Strong computer skills - Microsoft Office. Knowledge of industry software KIWI a plus, be organized and innovative.
3 to 5 years’ of shipping experience in a supervisory or management role.
Any equivalent combination of experience and training that demonstrates the ability to perform the key
responsibilities of this position.
Packaging industry experience (paperboard and/or corrugated) preferred.
Bachelor’s degree is strongly preferred. High school diploma or equivalent required.
Strong critical thinking and problem solving skills.
Strong interpersonal relations and written communication skills.
Ability to recognize the importance of safety in the workplace, follow safety rules, utilize appropriate safety equipment and report unsafe conditions to the appropriate administrator.
Understand resource allocations.
Ability to understand the basics of financial statements.
