Manager, Procurement and Inventory Data Quality 

The opportunity:

The Manager for Procurement and Inventory Data Quality interfaces with multiple departments including Procurement, Maintenance, Accounting, Treasury, IT and Finance to ensure high quality master data associated with IT system conversions, historical record cleanup, data governance, and business intelligence. A successful candidate will lead a team of full-time and contracted employees for concurrent projects through all project phases including proposal, requirements, design, development, testing, go live and the on-going support plan to meet project goals and objectives. The Manager will be a primary role enabling WestRock to leverage data as a strategic asset.

How you will impact WestRock:

  • Primary resource driving new and existing projects for WestRock Procurement Operations including system conversions, record enhancements and validation, record consolidation, and data integration initiatives
  • Supports enterprise Inventory operations initiatives including MRP optimization, stocking level optimization, obsolescence reviews, nonstock item additions, and branch data validation - often leading to data cleansing proposals in support of said initiatives
  • Creates and maintain project schedules, action trackers, issue logs, progress reports, and other project documents. Coordinates and lead status calls and executive status meetings
  • Drives internal and external activities and provides project analysis necessary to achieve the dates defined in the project schedule
  • Delivers projects on time, on budget, and within scope:

o   Direct and coordinate activities of project personnel

o   Prevent or minimize delays by keeping all stakeholders informed of progress

o   Identify and manage project risks

o   Build and maintain a project roadmap, timeline and individual project plans

o   Control project scope with an effective change management process

o   Escalate issues internally and externally proactively as needed

o   Organizes work and analyses to facilitate decision making

o  Update project plans for information technology projects including information such as project objectives, technologies, systems, information specifications, schedules, funding, and staffing

o   Facilitates project deliverables based upon internal resource availability

o Maintains and refines project management processes; works with Director and other Procurement leaders to drive overall process improvement

o   Initiate, review or approve modifications to project plans

o   Perform risk assessments to develop response strategies

o   Monitor the performance of project team members, providing and documenting performance feedback

o   Negotiate with project stakeholders to obtain resources

o   Coordinate recruitment or selection of project personnel

o   Assess current or future customer needs and priorities by communicating directly with customers, conducting surveys, or other methods.

What you need to succeed:

  • Bachelor's degree Business Administration or related field
  • 5+ years of enterprise project management experience
  • 7+ years Maintenance, Inventory or Supply Chain experience
  • Previous experience managing technical, complex projects across a large enterprise:

o   Effectively direct the work of a multi-disciplinary project team

o   Work successfully with minimal direct supervision

o  Organized thinker meticulous about record keeping ensuring project documents are complete, current, and stored appropriately

o   The ability to solve complex problems in a cross-functional organization

o   Capable of presenting ideas in a clear and compelling manner  

o   Ability to plan effectively and adapt to a changing environment

o   Strong oral, written and interpersonal communication skills

  • Previous experience implementing, maintaining, converting Enterprise Resource Management software
  • Advanced user of MS Project and MS Office applications (Word, Excel, Visio, and PowerPoint)
  • Proficiency in using and administering SharePoint and WebEx
  • Project management certification (PMP, CAPM, CSP, etc.) is a plus
  • Experience with Lean, Agile methodologies and/or tools is a plus
  • Familiar with data analytic tools
  • Knowledge of structured data, and relationships among data and domains
