Currently seeking Planning Manager to provide oversight and leadership in Planning Department. Manage direct reports and departmental work flow in a manner that is conducive to meeting operational goals. Serve as a liaison with internal functional areas, sales, customers, other WestRock companies and outsource vendors to ensure efficient project management. Ensure compliance with all company policies and procedures.
How you will impact WestRock:
Ensures staffing level and skill sets are appropriate to meet productivity standards and work flow volume. Ensures planned margins for jobs meet approved standards and if not escalate to proper member of management. Establishes performance goals and manages performance of direct reports. Conducts on-time
performance reviews of direct reports and ensures professional development plans are created and executed in the timeframes specified. Ensures planners have the skills and resources to provide comprehensive plans, information and tools to operations in order to produce the product correctly and efficiently.
Initiates, tracks, organizes, prioritizes and monitors multiple jobs through development, production and completion. Ensures planning activities meet quality standards and internal/external delivery schedules.
Collaborates with other functional leaders to achieve objectives and/or determine root cause and corrective action resolutions for sales/customers. Works closely with operations to establish and achieve print / packaging specifications and standards. Communicates daily and as needed with production scheduler, operators, and functional managers.
Collaborates with production and outside sources to identify more cost effective ways
of producing products (e.g. embossing, foil stamping). Initiates various problem resolution activities, including pre/post production meetings for new projects or projects that did not meet expected
efficiencies or profit margins. Reviews, develops and defines key Planning metrics related to delivery, inventory, and conformance to lead time and schedules. Makes sound operational decisions, solves problems, and manages conflict effectively.
What you need to succeed:
Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited four-year college or university preferred.
Must have 5-10 years of print production experience to include advanced understanding of design,
composition, proofreading, and print production processes.
Must have in depth knowledge of production scheduling concepts.
Must have basic knowledge of financial concepts to include the ability to understand profit and loss concepts.
Must have 3 or more years of supervisory experience.
Must have proven and strong leadership skills and be able to motivate others.
Must possess in-depth knowledge of folding carton print production procedures, methods, resource
capabilities, work flow and scheduling in a high speed print production environment.
Must have the ability to read and write complex instructions, correspondence and memos.
Must have effective verbal and written communication skills.
Must have excellent interpersonal skills and be able to relate effectively with others at all levels of the organization.
Must have strong MS Excel, Word and Power Point skills coupled with in depth experience working with ERP information systems.
Must possess strong mathematical skills and understand the fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and
Must have the ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions to practical
Must have the ability to multi-task under pressure and manage multiple projects with a high level of accuracy.
Must be able to effectively present information, in one on one and small group situations, to customers/ clients and to other employees of the organization.
Must be reliable and dependable.
Must be able to perform essential functions of job, with or without reasonable accommodations.
