The Manufacturing Leadership Trainee will start at Clinton Folding with responsibility for safety, personnel, quality, production, equipment (including basic maintenance troubleshooting) and all other activities occurring in or related to the finishing department which manages the final manufacturing stages for our folding carton production. The group has about 90 people on 4 lines. We’re also adding robots into the plant and this person will also assist in the design layout of the floor. The plant runs boxes for major CPG companies. You will be mentored by the Finishing Manager and other members of the management team.
ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Responsible for the safety and well-being of self and employees, promoting safety rules, procedures, and proactive measures to ensure a safe working environment.
Engage and empower employees to reduce hazards, improve quality, and increase efficiency through team building and inclusion.
Report all near misses, incidents, first aid rendered, or unsafe working conditions to the Finishing Manager, Plant Manager, and Safety Manager immediately without exception.
Coach, develop, and guide shift employees.
Resolve conflict between employees and maintain good working relationships inside the department.
Organize job assignments of employees on the shift, supporting daily production efforts as needed.
Understand and follow all applicable rules, policies, procedures, regulations, and laws related to human resource activities.
Ensure all DMS boards, checklists, and production reports are being filled out completely and correctly.
Follow all steps of the PE processes (DEC,5S, ER) including training of employees on check sheets/ sweep sheets and all applicable duties to adhere to the PE process.
Ensure production goals, standards, and metrics for the Finishing Department are being met every shift, implementing an action plan to bring machines, crews, or processes up to standards in the event of lagging production goals, standards, or metrics.
Drive continuous improvement efforts.
Coordinate maintenance and repair of equipment, including part orders, preventive/ predictive maintenance, emergency maintenance, and outside contractor efforts to ensure all equipment is kept in optimal condition as consistent with food contact packaging.
Responsible for the cleanliness and organization of the Finishing area, overseeing and delegating housekeeping duties in the assigned area.
What You Need to Succeed:
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field or supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment is preferred.
2 years of supervisory experience is preferred but not required. We are open to a new grad who brings the right attitude and experience.
Demonstrated leadership capability.
Communication, leadership, strategic and tactical planning, problem solving, mentoring, politeness, confidence, tact, patience, and diplomacy while dealing with complex problems.
Exceptional written, verbal and listening skills in order to effectively interact across all levels within the organization.
Proficient in Microsoft Office Programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
Data analysis, statistical methods.
Six Sigma and Lean Manufacturing principles and tools a plus.
