CAREER OPPORTUNITY:

The Performance Excellence System Leader role is designed to coach and guide the implementation of the Performance Excellence System (PES). This role is the direct conduit between the tactical/operational and strategic initiatives in the organization.

 

This position requires a leader that is able to facilitate and drive change in a fast paced and “ever changing” environment leveraging his/her strong interpersonal and influencing skills.  The PES Leader role is at a level of a Plant Superintendent/Plant Production Manager. 

 

Key to success in this position is the ability to work within and across the plant at all levels creating value and buy-in as the key change facilitator for the Performance Excellence System deployment.

Specific Responsibilities Include:

  • Align with strategic objectives for the Division/Region/Plant and Execute PES to accomplish them

  • Perform education to pillar and steering team

  • Train teams to utilize Performance Excellence and lean six sigma tools and methodology

  • Serve as site PES implementation leader

  • Serve as site PES sustainment leader

  • Provide and share foundational best-practices

  • Ensure that process changes become part of the DMS (Daily Management System)

  • Work with Practitioners to ensure alignment to the system across plants

  • Coach/mentor belts and CI pillar teams to achieve savings goals

  • Execute LSS Belt projects to deliver hard cost savings

HOW YOU IMPACT WESTROCK:

The PES Leader role is responsible for the deployment and ongoing sustainment of the PES Pillar system at the plant.  In addition, the Leader is responsible for the training/coaching of Pillar Leaders and the Steering team at the plant.  The PES Leader may also execute LSS Belt projects to meet plant savings goals. 

This position will be focused on driving improvements in revenue and driving cost out of the business through more effective processes, elimination of non-value added or duplicate efforts, waste and other related defects in the process.

Specific duties include:

  • Coach and assist plant in their Zero Loss Thinking and Analysis

  • Provide education on the pillars as necessary

  • Provide on-site coaching to the individuals/teams as necessary

  • Perform audits and assessments for the evaluation of PES results and consistency across the plant and work with Practitioners to ensure consistency across division

  • Identify training needs/gaps prior to and during the implementation. 

  • Assist in the alignment of key resources to include engineering and other resources to ensure that we are working on the right priorities

  • Develop, track and report local progress for the facility

  • Report progress to the plant steering team

  • Raising issues that need addressed

  • Coach/mentor belts and CI pillar teams to achieve savings goals

  • Execute LSS Belt Projects to meet plant savings objectives

WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED AT WESTROCK:

 

This position will implement the PES system to instill lean culture and principles and ensure they are utilized consistently throughout the plant/organization.

 

Critical Competencies

Education

  • 4 year degree desired but not required, Engineering Preferred

  • Performance Excellence System Pillar training provided

  • Strong Continuous Improvement Experience Required - Lean Six Sigma Belt Training/Certification Preferred

Experience

  • Minimum 5 years of manufacturing and/or Continuous Improvement experience

  • Preferred similar experience in Lean Based Operating Systems

System Access Requirements

  • Divisional Data system (KIWI, AS 400, etc.)

  • Lean Six Sigma Project Library

Other Requirements

  • Must be able to perform physical activities that require use of arms and legs, moving body, such as lifting up to 50 pounds repeatedly, balancing, walking, stooping and handling of materials as necessary.
