Master Black Belt, Supply Chain – Richmond, VA

The opportunity:

Master Black Belts are business partners providing the link between the Performance Excellence System and Divisional Leaders to build a culture of Continuous Improvement, support overall business strategy, obtain critical support and resources, execute on a single productivity agenda by ensuring projects are measurable and implemented using the data driven approach of lean six sigma methodology and principles to drive productivity results while ensuring customer satisfaction of the world’s most admired brands.

How you will impact WestRock:

  • Drive strategic supply chain innovation in the WestRock network
  • Align overall productivity project pipeline with annual financial plan and division objectives
  • Build a pipeline of Yellow, Green, and Black Belts to implement projects selected by the business and drive sustainable savings

·         Conduct data and fact-based analysis of the current state to identify opportunities to improve the end to end value stream

·         Assist the business with the creation and implementation of the plans to achieve end to end value stream improvements

·         Lead and mobilize the people inside and outside of the value stream to enable the required changes

  • Provide regular support for Black Belts, Green Belts and Yellow Belts to ensure principles of Lean Six Sigma are understood, utilized and implemented in project work
  • Facilitate cross functional project teams via Kaizen approach
  • Lead projects – gather/organize/analyze data, develop action plans, and execute
  • Coordinate regular report out of projects to Leadership Team
  • Provide training for Lean Six Sigma disciplines as needed
  • Identify and ensure best practices are shared and implemented
  • Collaborate with LSS professionals within corporate group to improve processes and increase effectiveness for the entire organization.

 

What you need to succeed:

  • BS/BA; Industrial Engineering or Supply Chain desired
  • Technical Degree Preferred
  • MBA preferred

·         “Disruptive” and “strategic” thinker to drive transformational change – using WestRock Values as foundation for behaviors

·         5-8 years of relevant Supply Chain industry experience with progressive growth in leadership and business impact

  • 3-5 years of LSS experience, including belt training and development
  • Proven history of driving change and productivity results in an organization – DMAIC and Kaizen project portfolio
  • Passionate about Continuous Improvement and ability to make others successful
  • A self-starter who will take the initiative and drive strategies to closure
  • Certified Black Belt with demonstrated ability to consistently deliver financial results
  • Lean Training with demonstrated practical application
  • Demonstrated ability to coach, teach, and mentor technical and non-technical knowledge to hourly and salaried employees
  • Strong financial acumen with ability to create financial models used to support project selection and determine net project value to the P&L
  • Proficient with Minitab, Microsoft Office, Visio, and/or SharePoint
  • Driven with a sense of urgency to achieve results
  • Clear and effective communicator at all levels
  • Manages and drives change
  • Travel required 25-50%
