The Opportunity: 
The Continuous Improvement Manager is expected to establish and develop WestRock Hazelton Folding’s Performance Excellence system and continuous improvement activities resulting in a measurable improvement in key plant metrics through the following activities:
Expectations and Responsibilities
Operational Areas of Responsibility
•CI Department and Support Groups
•Plant Operations, Low Cost, Consistent with Quality Requirements
•Managing and driving the implementations of the Performance Excellence process
Safety/Housekeeping
•Establish and sustain a clean and well organized department
•Instill a “proactive” approach towards safety with employee involvement
•Determine housekeeping goals/objectives/procedures for all shifts
•Ensure safety rule compliance across all shifts
•Ensure Safety is never sacrificed
Quality and Continuous Improvement
•Lead with a relentless pursuit of continuous improvement – Safety, Quality and Productivity
•Ensure quality control plans are developed and fully implemented for quality excellence
•Work with employees on prioritizing improvement opportunities
•Ensure corrective/preventive actions are implemented for internal and external customer complaints
•Ensure SQF compliance across all shifts
•Strive to meet or exceed customer expectations in product safety, quality, and service
Human Resources
•Coach Departmental and Plant employees
•Lead with a “Team Based” problem solving approach
•Ensure employees are effectively trained to meet expectations
•Determine departmental staffing needs
•Inspire commitment in others for individual and team objectives
•Ensure discipline is applied consistently and correctly across all shifts
•Reward, recognize and celebrate accomplishments and improvements
Production and Cost Improvement
•Relentless focus on measurable continuous improvement
•Identify obstacles and develop and execute action plans to improve performance
•Lead teams to achieve OEEr objectives
•Be innovative and creative with process improvements – “Think outside the box”
•Ensure production performance is measured
•Ensure each shift receives performance feedback and updates on improvement plans
•Pay strict attention to departmental costs – labor, materials, supplies and parts
•Work with Reliability Department on managing work order trends and downtime reduction improvements
•Ensure effective preventive and predictive maintenance is established for equipment
•Work with suppliers and vendors for technical support and solutions
What You Need to Succeed:
Strong Leadership / Coaching ability
Understanding team based management principles and vision a must
Passion and sense of urgency for executing performance improvement projects and leveraging best practices across the organization
Project Management experience leading large projects or multiple client projects
Demonstrated leader who can effectively challenge, influence and build consensus within the organization
Demonstrated ability to use, teach and coach others on statistical, analytical, facilitation, and change acceleration tools
Detail knowledge of plant operations is required
Ability to understand and apply department policies and procedures
Good oral and written communication skills to effectively interact in person or otherwise with management, other employees, and external or internal customers or service providers
Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedural manuals
Strong understanding of converting & warehousing production equipment
Continuous Improvement tools knowledge and experience
