The opportunity:

  • The Operations Manager will drive the operation of the manufacturing facility to include, but not limited to, safety, maintenance, production, customer requirements/interface, planning and scheduling
  • You will provide oversight and leadership in the printing packaging facility and will ensure the timely production of quality products that meet or exceed customer expectations

  • Day-to-day management of assigned departments, through the management of supervisory staff, including achieving production goals, managing performance of direct reports, making sound operational decisions, solving problems, and managing conflict
  • Establish goals and track results relating to uptime, quality, productivity, control manufacturing and conversion cost within budgetary limits
  • Ensure that all WestRock standards and customer commitments (i.e., quality, safety, output, on-time delivery) are followed within the plant
  • Support, coach, train, develop and mentor managers and hourly production employees
  • Build and maintain an effective partnership with hourly team to improve overall plant production


What you need to succeed:

  • High school diploma or GED is required; Bachelor's degree is preferred
  • Minimum of 7 years of supervisory experience in the folding carton industry preferably as a Production Manager or Superintendent; graphics or maintenance background a plus
  • Focus on Continuous Improvement; Six Sigma and / or Lean Principles highly desired
  • Strong leadership, strategic planning and analytical skills
  • Understanding of operating budgets and project management in a manufacturing environment
  • Exposure to formal safety, quality, and productivity systems such as ISO and OHSA training
  • Must have math and measurement skills to understand, track, analyze and report on operating metrics
  • Must pass color vision and color hue tests
