Mechanical Maintenance Supervisor - Hopewell, VA

Primarily responsible for supervising the maintenance mechanics in the Pulp Mill, Wood Yard and Causticizing areas. The supervisor is responsible for the safety, training and assignment of work to the maintenance personnel in their area. He/she is also responsible for maintenance spending in their area along with the other members of the maintenance team (maintenance planner, operating department maintenance coordinator and operating department superintendent). The supervisor has the responsibly for seeing that his/her mechanics conduct themselves in accordance with all corporate, division and mill safety and environmental rules and procedures. In addition, he/she is responsible for making sure that the mechanics in his/her area are using the proper parts and equipment to complete all maintenance work appropriately for their safety and those of the other people in the area and that the equipment in their area is maintained in such a way that the equipment runs reliably and is cost effectively maintained. The supervisor is often expected to be the chief troubleshooter on the equipment in his/her area.

Visit storeroom verify parts are in stock
Working night & weekend duty assignments supervising mechanics
Attend training & other meetings
Lead tool box safety & morning assignment meeting
Attend daily planning with area maintenance team
Conduct safety audits of mechanics & work area
Attend field day meetings
Weekly scheduling of employees in CMMS
Participate in Root Cause Failure Analysis efforts
What you will need to succeed:
Associate’s degree (A.A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school or three to five years related supervisory experience in maintenance and reliability or equivalent combination of education and experience. Bachelor’s degree is preferred.
Strong skills with Microsoft Office Suite (i.e. MS Word, Power Point, Excel, Project) and CMMS systems.
A reliability and process improvement focus with proven results.
An understanding of precision maintenance practices and experience with leading a precision culture.
Experience with lifting/rigging equipment.
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.
Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Collaborative team focused and customer concentric approach to leadership.
