The Opportunity:
Fresno Folding Carton has an opportunity for a Finishing Department Manager with strong gluer and SQF experience to join our team.  We’ve purchased our first gluer to expand our business in the food service/folding carton arena and are looking for someone to help us manufacture quality products, while meeting productivity goals.
Manager has overall responsibility for the department and interacting with supporting groups to maximize the efficiency and quality of production.
Operational Areas of Responsibility
· Department Teams and Support Groups
Safety/Housekeeping
· Establish and sustain a clean and well-organized department
· Instill a “proactive” approach towards safety with employee involvement
· Determine housekeeping goals/objectives/procedures for all shifts
· Ensure safety rule compliance across all shifts
· Ensure Safety is never sacrificed
Quality and Continuous Improvement
· Lead with a relentless pursuit of continuous improvement – Safety, Quality and Productivity
· Ensure quality control plans are developed and fully implemented for quality excellence
· Work with employees on prioritizing improvement opportunities
· Ensure corrective/preventive actions are implemented for internal and external customer complaints
· Ensure SQF compliance across all shifts
· Strive to meet or exceed customer expectations in product safety, quality, and service
Human Resources
· Coach Department and Plant employees with written and verbal communication
· Lead with a “Team Based” problem solving approach
· Ensure employees are effectively trained to meet expectations
· Determine departmental staffing needs
· Inspire commitment in others for individual and team objectives
· Ensure discipline is applied consistently and correctly across all shifts
· Reward, recognize and celebrate accomplishments and improvements
Production and Cost Improvement
· Relentless focus on measurable continuous improvement
· Identify obstacles and develop and execute action plans to improve performance
· Lead teams to achieve OEEr objectives
· Be innovative and creative with process improvements – “Think outside the box”
· Ensure production performance is measured
· Ensure each shift receives performance feedback and updates on improvement plans through written and verbal communication
· Pay strict attention to departmental costs – labor, materials, supplies and parts
· Work with Reliability Department on managing work order trends and downtime reduction improvements
· Ensure effective preventive and predictive maintenance is established for equipment
· Work with suppliers and vendors for technical support and solutions
Back-up responsibilities: Maybe called upon to perform some Plant Manager duties if needed. Department level managers from any area may fill in for one another if needed.
What You Need to Succeed:
Bachelor’s degree preferred
Strong technical background in folding carton finishing
Project management and planning skills
Strong leadership skills with a demonstrated ability to motivate employees to reach their potential
SQF experience preferred
Print and gluer Quality experience preferred
