Machine Operator - Entry Level


Summary Description

This position will report to the Shift Operations Manager in the Production Services Department and will work a swing shift rotation.

The operator will work basic entry level jobs in various departments in the mill, requiring training on multiple pieces of equipment and multiple processes.  Work assignments will be based on labor needs for the Mill and will be used to fill in for vacancies caused by leave of absence, training, job openings, project assignments, labor intensive products or projects, etc.


  • Comply with all site safety requirements and procedure.


  • Perform various housekeeping, cleaning, and organizing functions with minimal supervision to ensure areas are clean and free from debris.

  • Perform all work assignments in various areas and departments of the mill in a professional manner that complies with all safety, environmental, and quality requirements for the mill. 

  • Prioritize work and take appropriate action to ensure all areas remain operational.
  • Roll finishing operator (banding, labeling, sorting). 

  • Operating Clamp Truck to load finished product on trucks and/or railcars.

  • Operating Fork Lift to unload bales from trucks and load conveyors with appropriate recipe of raw materials.

  • Operating Front-end Loader to load raw materials on conveyors to feed biomass boiler.

  • Perform quality checks as a routine part of all assignments.

  • Write safety and maintenance work orders.

  • Perform all related duties as assigned by Shift Operations Manager or Department leaders.

  • Provide training and leadership to new employees in the department (trainer).



  • Ability to safely operate various manufacturing equipment, follow specific directions, operate power hand tools, and other duties as assigned.

  • Ability to read a tape measure (to 1/16” measurement) and basic math and computer skills.

  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with supervisor, coworkers and management.

  • Ability to work scheduled and unscheduled overtime and respond to call-ins when contacted.

  • Must have high school diploma or GED.  (REQUIRED)

  • Work Ready Certificate prior to hire.
