Journeyman Truck Shop / Heavy Equipment Mechanic:
Demonstrated ability to work safely in an industrial environment paper and pulp mill operating 24 hours per day 7 days/week. Able to work M-F 7:30A – 3:30P normally with occasional overtime, weekends, and call-ins. Function as a team member of the maintenance shop in a union environment. Performs a variety of maintenance and repair activities on rolling stock and heavy equipment in a large paper & pulp mill.

Technical Skills Required:
Ability to work alone in all aspects including but not limited to:
Parts identifying and ordering
Repair in a timely manner
Monitor the status of the equipment on a daily basis
Track run time hours manually for service
Demonstrate a basic level of skills in processes that may be outside of primary craft core competency including but not limited to:
Cutting with torch
Computer operation including internet parts search
Operate shop equipment including variety of small and large hand tools, overhead cranes, hoists, man-lifts, fork lifts, etc.
Adheres to all corporate and department safety guidelines and procedures. Attends safety training classes to keep current.
Actively participates and contributes to machine and process improvements.
Ensures the working area, tools and equipment are maintained in a clean, organized and safe manner.
Actively supports all environmental and recycling efforts including the disposal of hazardous materials.
Computer skills required.
Performs additional duties as requested and must be willing to pick up additional training as may be determined by the Company
Experienced in hydraulics
Experienced in Electrical Systems (12V & 24V)
Experienced in Air Brakes of Trucks & Equipment
Experienced in a Dealership, Construction & Field Work setting
Must be Trade Qualified in Welding & Torch work
Experienced in ALL Fuel Systems (Diesel, Gas & LP)
Experienced in day to day Repair & Preventative Maintenance in a Production Setting
GED/High School Equivalency
Graduate of a Technical School for Diesel Mechanics
4 Year Apprenticeship Program from noted Equipment Dealership or Construction Company
Must have Journeyman Diesel Mechanic license or Equivalent, valid in Washington State.
Demonstrated technical aptitude and experience working in a heavy industry environment (Pulp and Paper, Oil and Gas, Foundry, etc.) preferred.
Ideal candidate will have 10 years of experience in heavy industry environment.
Strong and effective communication and interpersonal skills - proactive nature, with a proven track record of working with others. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to work either independently or as part of a multi-disciplinary team to achieve results and meet project schedules.
Demonstrates initiative and is self-directed, anticipating needs and suggesting improvements.
Excellent problem-solving skills with a strong teamwork style and a passion for achieving goals. Able to manage competing and fluid priorities.
Interface effectively with operational, maintenance and management personnel to assure continuity of efforts.
Must be able to maintain confidentiality and conduct work with high level of professionalism.

All hired Electricians will be expected to participate in a rotating shift support role running the mill 24/7, but will also be presented the opportunity to work a day shift schedule when positions become available.
Required to join the IAM Local Union 297 and pay membership/working dues on a monthly basis.
