The opportunity:

This position is responsible for planning complex maintenance jobs – specifying job requirements, identifying and requisitioning related materials, contracting needed services, providing detailed job instruction, and coordinating with maintenance employees and stakeholders as necessary and appropriate.

How you will impact WestRock:

  • The MP may direct and supervise maintenance employees and often coordinates the work of different skilled trades and contractors cooperating to complete jobs.

  • The MP works closely with Maintenance Engineering, Purchasing, and Production teams to understand, document, sustain, and improve maintenance-related processes and techniques—systematically working to solve maintenance problems, increase equipment reliability, and decrease maintenance costs.

  • The MP serves as an administrator of maintenance information management systems—coordinating with, training, and supporting system users.  In addition, the MP develops, generates, analyzes, and distributes maintenance-related control reports in support of management and continuous improvement efforts.

  • The MP provides support with capital projects, participating in equipment selection and layout—optimizing maintainability, promoting standardized equipment and inventory, providing technical expertise for installation and start-up, and ensuring receipt of maintenance-related deliverables (e.g., training, manuals, maintenance instructions, spare parts lists, drawings, schematics, etc.).

  • The MP functions as a leader within the Maintenance Team, ensuring employee safety, preserving company assets, engaging and supporting team members, assisting in emergencies, providing responsive service to production customers, and upholding good practices, company policies, collective bargaining agreement rules, and applicable regulations.

What you need to succeed:

  • AS or BS in an engineering field of study

  • 3 years of Engineering or maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment strongly preferred

  • Excellent problem-solving ability (logical and physical)

  • Ability to communicate effectively (verbal and written)

  • Comfortable interacting with diverse personality types

  • Consistently sets an example for others to emulate

  • Offers differing perspective when appropriate

  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail

  • Responsible work ethic

  • Positive, can-do attitude

  • Track record of continuous improvement

  • Maintains professional demeanor in adverse circumstances

  • Disciplined in adhering to procedures and standards

  • Advanced user of computers and Microsoft applications (Word, Excel, Access, Outlook, etc.)

  • Knowledge of mechanical/electrical components and maintenance tools used in industrial applications

  • Prior engineering, maintenance, or trades experience

  • Experience in a manufacturing environment

  • Knowledge of or experience in paper mill processes and equipment

  • Database development experience

  • Experience administering or using a computerized maintenance management system (CMMS)
