Job Purpose:

This position reports to the Maintenance Manager and works in conjunction with the Maintenance and Production teams. Duties entail compiling and maintaining information and records to prepare a purchase order. May perform other related clerical tasks. Applies essential skill and procedures appropriate for the position within assigned functional areas. Duties and functions are standardized. Resolves routine questions and problems. Works under the direct supervisor of the Maintenance Manager, works in conjunction with and support to the Maintenance Coordinator and follows standard procedures to accomplish assigned tasks. Has contact with specific vendors/suppliers as per Maintenance Manager. This position is subject to changes as per business needs.

 

Specific Accountabilities:

  • Edits purchase requests and prepare purchase orders

  • Consults catalogues and other references to obtain prices and specifications.

  • Maintains files and records of materials, prices, inventories and deliveries.

  • Performs related clerical duties.

  • May contact vendors and suppliers for quotations and follow up on outstanding purchase orders

  • Operates a personal computer and appropriates software packages or its equivalent.

  • Coordinates plant/maintenance department materials purchasing applications to effectively plan all maintenance work projects.

  • Monitors with the guidance of the Maintenance Manager in managing the maintenance departments’ operating budget to ensure compliance with outlined budgetary goals.

  • Participates and supports group meetings to communicate customer, plant and maintenancerelated information relative to improvement of all maintenance operations.

  • Maintain spare part inventory to a min/max level as well as the organization of all parts storage areas.

  • Flexibility to work Saturdays to meet business needs.

  • Shows flexibility in adjusting to operations and business demands.

  • Other duties as assigned.

 

Minimum Knowledge and Skills Required to Perform the Job:

  • Bachelor's Degree 

  • Must be able to work independently as well as part of a team.

  • Excellent communication skills

  • Able to work well in a fast paced environment

  • Must be competent in the use of computers and software applications appropriate to the needs of the business.

  • Work experience in a manufacturing/industrial environment

  • Previous experience in purchasing/inventory areas;  Knowledge of JD Edwards would be an asset.
