Perform welding, burning and brazing operations on a
variety of metals, tubes and pipes, in various shapes and sizes and at various
angles in locations throughout the operations. Assist other craft and
maintenance personnel in the performance of work outside of Certified Welder
duties and responsibilities as assigned. With a dual and/or third craft
designation of Millwright and/or Pipefitter, perform work independently in such
crafts as well as Certified Welder.
Duties and Responsibilities
Set up and operate burning and welding equipment to
perform welding, burning and brazing operations as required. Prepare surfaces
as necessary. Perform tube and pipe welding as required. Build up and fill in
with weld worn sections of shafts and other metals needing repair. Use all
types of rods, fluxes, acids and other materials required to perform
assignments. Fabricate parts and equipment as directed or as specified. Read,
and remedy trouble as noted or when breakdowns occur. Follow standards of
Precision Maintenance and Reliability. Demonstrate proficiency by
satisfactorily competing A.S.M.E. performance qualification tests.
Assist in on-the-job training and safe work direction of
other personnel, assign duties, inspect and approve jobs as they are completed.
Communicate pertinent information to supervision,
operations, or other crafts as needed to coordinate personal work
accomplishment. Provide documentation updates to records and history signing
and dating as requested.
Perform any task or work necessary to accomplish work
assigned which may require general welding, Pipefitter, Tinner, Carpenter,
Machinist, Instrument Mechanic, lubrication and maintenance work not
necessarily in the primary functions of Certified Welder. As a qualified and/or
certified Pipefitter and/or Millwright perform work of those crafts
independently, as defined in the job descriptions(s).
Clean up equipment and work area. Maintain good
housekeeping and safe work practices and procedures at all times.
Tools and Equipment
Burning and welding equipment, rods, fluxes, hand tools,
precision maintenance testing and analytical equipment, recordkeeping systems,
and other tools, equipment, and labor saving devices necessary to prepare and
complete the assigned job.
All materials on which maintenance and construction work
