Production Planner

This position is located at 1000 Abernathy Rd. Atlanta GA. 30328

The opportunity:

The Production Planner serves as the lynchpin between each element of the supply chain and is directly responsible for mill production schedules. The Production Planner orchestrates all supply planning efforts with the paper mills, logistics and customer service teams, creating and organizing the most efficient manufacturing schedules that maximize efficiency and productivity and meet customer requirements.

How you will impact WestRock:

* Identify the most effective solution to deliver the customer products on time * Assist with on-time shipments to customers by scheduling machines * Perform necessary rework based on unexpected mill outages/downtime * Make scheduling and transportation decisions with a high degree of autonomy * Analyze manufacturing orders to optimize production schedules of paper machines * Generate daily, weekly, and monthly scheduling reporting requirements to measure performance * Continuously identify innovative ways to improve trim efficiency, reduce waste, and maximize machine utilization * Communicate regularly and effectively with manufacturing personnel to ensure runs are sequenced to meet customer/company objectives * Balance competing needs, metrics (i.e., trim efficiency, shipment time, freight loading optimization) and goals to arrive at the optimal scheduling and logistics solution for all parties * Partner with stakeholders (internal supply planners, customer service, production resources, and logistics resources) to determine how to meet on-time needs and demands in the most cost-effective way


What you need to succeed:

Bachelor's Degree, preferably in Industrial Engineering, Supply Chain Management, or Business Administration

Internship or Summer work experience

Experience with Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word)

Able to work in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities
