Quality Assurance Manager (Manufacturing)- Etobicoke, ON
The Quality Assurance Manager position is responsible to act as the site Quality Manager, overseeing the implementation, maintenance and compliance to Customer, Regulatory, &WRMD processes and procedures.
Works with divisional and site management and personnel to plan, develop, implement and continually improve relevant QMS requirements, and to ensure sustainable compliance to customer, regulatory and WRMD QMS requirements, operating in and promoting the WRMD way via our policies and procedures. Responsible for managing and monitoring QA’s performance, proactively addressing areas of conflict and underperformance and recognizing areas of teamwork and high performance.
This role reports directly to the Regional Quality Manager, Manufacturing, with a strong dotted-line report to the General Manager of the site.

Including the identification and training of an individual capable of successfully completing all stated Essential Duties & Responsibilities as appropriate to maintain integrity of position for progression planning and coverage during times of absence.
Maintain and distribute accurate reports, analyzing reports for trends.
Conduct investigations determine root causes and execute action plans where needed.
Monitor and document compliance with current policies, procedures, regulatory and customer requirements. Includes implementation of corporate SOP’s for site.
Coordinate and/or participate in investigation of detected risks or failures, complaints and corrective/preventive actions.
Informs site Management of significant or potentially significant quality issues and facilitates effective root cause analysis and corrective/preventive actions to reduce or eliminate errors.
Coordinate and participate in internal, customer, and regulatory audits.
Manage all aspects of any self-improvement audits.
Serve as HACCP Coordinator responsible for leading development, implementation and maintenance of facility’s HACCP Plan.
Serve as Food Safety Coordinator/PCQI (Preventative Controls Qualified Individual)/SQF Practitioner for facility overseeing the Plan’s implementation, review and validation.
Serve as facility coordinator for Product Stewardship ensuring finished products from facility meet the safety, regulatory and customer expectations.
Serve as Chain of Custody Coordinator for facility ensuring implementation and conformance with Chain of Custody Standards of the FSC, SFI and PEFC.
Develop individual leadership and management skills and abilities
Determining, documenting, and/or approval of site specific or one-time occurrences such as: protocols (reworks, validations, etc.) deviations (planned or unplanned), waivers or releases for materials and products, etc. as required.
Training of facility personnel: Conduct and help implement training for personnel and facility growth.
Perform and review employee performance.
Maintain compliance with all safety rules/regulations to ensure a safe working environment.
Implement, maintain, and educate employees on the importance of compliance with all security requirements to ensure: security of customer and WRMD properties, theft prevention, and a secure working environment.
Practical knowledge of quality standards, measurement tools, methods, and practices required.
Along with site GM, responsible for proper implementation and maintenance (including effectiveness) of WRMD & WestRock Company policies and procedures; and overall quality performance of the assigned facility.
The ability to assess trends and patterns and make tough timely, fact-based decisions. Inspiring others to
buy-in and execute to the decision.
Utilize non-conformance processes and other quality tools to identify and address services, materials, product, and processing quality issues. Communicate findings and actions as required both internally and externally.
Travel as required to participate in audits, team meetings, customer meetings, vendor evaluations, etc.
Serve as Environmental Coordinator for the facility
All other duties as assigned
What you need to succeed:
A minimum high school diploma or GED. Bachelor’s degree is preferred.
A minimum of 5 years 'experience in a quality assurance role and 2 years of supervisory/managerial
experience in a manufacturing environment is highly preferred.
Experience with and working knowledge of quality systems and tools; regulatory requirements (Six
Sigma, GMPs, DEA, FDA, SQF).
Must have good communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
Competent computer skills, including: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, presentation skills.
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
May require the ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
Ability to work in an office and plant environment
