We are looking for forward thinking technologists that can accelerate our focus areas such as building stronger foundational technology capabilities, reducing complexity, employing digital transformation concepts, and leveraging disruptive technology.
In this role you will be charged with developing, driving and managing the Technology Innovation Program.
You will work across the enterprise to identify opportunities where technology can add value, contribute to process improvement and result in cost savings.
In this opportunity you will serve as the evangelist for the tech innovation program.
How you will impact WestRock
Innovation Portfolio Delivery
Drive the implementation and ongoing execution of the innovation program framework, including the innovation portfolio strategy, the end-to-end lifecycle of an idea from creation through scaling, the funding model, portfolio governance, and performance monitoring to gauge the health of the innovation portfolio and individual projects
Be responsible and provide oversight for the selection, funding, and execution of innovation projects
Foster and drive expansion of the innovation eco-system through relationships with academic institutions, start-ups, venture capitalists, accelerators, vendors, and others
Innovative Mindset and Behavior
Lead the execution of the strategy to embed innovative thinking and ways of working throughout the organization and its business partners
Drive the development and roll-out of innovative behavioral training and other innovation learning opportunities across the Information Technology organization
Lead innovation communication and stakeholder engagement events and activities, such as hackathons and ideation contests
Collaborate to design and implement programs and initiatives that support innovators throughout the organization
Innovation Program Execution & Oversight
Support the usage and continuous improvement of physical and virtual innovation environments and tools
Manage innovation projects’ financial, COE budget and innovation portfolio performance
Coach and support innovation teams, product owners and sponsors throughout the delivery of the innovative solution
What you need to succeed
Education and Experience Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in business or technology or equivalent experience
8+ years program leadership, innovation, strategy and/or consulting experience
Cross-functional team leadership and facilitation experience
Master’s degree in business or technology or equivalent experience
Work experience that spans start-ups and large corporate environments
Prior responsibility for building an innovation culture
Venture capital and entrepreneurial experience
Passion for the practice of innovation
Strong analytical, strategic, project management, decision-making and problem-solving skills; organized and capable of managing a fast-paced environment with multi-disciplinary teams and third-party vendors
Critical, creative, and strategic thinking capability
Extensive experience communicating effectively across all levels of the organization.
Ability to understand business and technology environments and challenges
Ability to lead and execute in a test and learn, rapid iteration environment
Strong interpersonal skills, including ability to inﬂuence change without direct authority
Patience, perseverance, and resourcefulness, including the ability to think past current constraints and inﬂuence others to gain buy-in and alignment
Ability to measure, evaluate and act on ﬁnancial and operational results
Strong desire and innate ability to collaborate, with a natural curiosity and growth mindset
Ability to lead a group through a design thinking approach
Exceptional communication, negotiation, conflict management, problem solving, influencing and decision-making skills.
Expert knowledge of stakeholder management, risk management and organizational change management.
Proven track record of quickly earning trust, inspiring teams, developing resources, setting direction, and delivering results.
Advanced MS Office skills.
