Director, IT Identity & Access Management – Atlanta, GA

The opportunity:

This opportunity would allow you to apply your strong understanding of designing, configuring, and implementing IAM solutions and processes. You will have the opportunity to strategize with business partners in a global organization with over 45,000 employees around onboarding/offboarding, user provisioning/deprovisioning, and modern access management solutions, such as single sign-on, multi-factor authentication, and privileged account management. Our newly created opportunity will enable you to partner collaboratively with the leadership to develop and maintain dynamic strategies for protecting WestRock identities and access protocols from the latest threat actors and threat vectors.  The person in this role will liaise with the IT Infrastructure team to integrate security requirements into core infrastructure practices and define requirements for standard practices and tools to create and manage identities and access controls. In this role, you will own the overall operation IAM technology, and its integration within the Information Security organization, and oversee the company’s identity and access management platforms and capabilities. This position is based in our office in Atlanta, GA.



How you will impact WestRock:

  • Plans, develops, implements, and maintains an identity program using automated tools.
  • Facilitates access and security audits to identify risks and threats.
  • Conducts research, analyzes data, and creates reports on the efficacy of access controls procedures.
  • Modernizes access control protocols and establishes role-based access control mechanisms to maintain a strategy of “least privilege.”
  • Leads the designs, configuration, and implementation of robust identity and access solutions, including tools to support onboarding, offboarding, user provisioning, deprovisioning, single-sign, federated identities, multi-factor authentication, and privileged account management solutions.
  • Guide staff and analysts through implementation, provides additional support, and performs quality assurance that all procedures are executed according to protocols.


What you need to succeed:

  • Bachelor’s degree or a similar level of training in IT and information security.
  • 12 years of IT experience with 8 years of experience focused on information security.
  • Minimally 5 years in an information security leadership role.
  • Network, cyber, and system security expertise
  • Solid understanding of IAM concepts, standards, and frameworks
  • Certifications a plus such as:  CISSP, CISM, CRISC and other similar certs.
  • Must have strong communications skills with the ability to interface with both executives and technical staff.
  • Experience running risk management programs.
  • Experience with IT architecture planning.
  • Travel up to 30%, although this may be higher when ramping up.
  • Self-starter with the capability to motivate others.
  • Experience leading small teams of direct reports across a global enterprise.
  • Experience coordinating geographically-dispersed virtual teams.
  • Professional proficiency with the MS suite of products (Word, Excel, PPT, Visio, Project)
  • Being self-directed, fast-paced, collaborative, and results-oriented
  • Ability to work under tight deadlines at a fast pace.
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Ability to lead and collaborate with cross-functional technical teams
  • Strong analytical and decision-making skills
  • Demonstrates strategic thinking in application of security technologies and interoperability
  • Maintains awareness of external and internal threat landscape and emerging trends
