The Head of Talent Acquisition Europe establishes and implements effective talent acquisition strategies that meet the unique needs of WestRock’s manufacturing business in Europe and the UK.  The position requires expertise and proven experience designing innovative techniques to attract hard-to-find talent in competitive markets, managing operations to include local recruiting resources, and ensuring efficient investments in both internal and external recruiting resources. Additionally, the leader will develop and implement strategies to manage and improve the company’s global employment brand and the quality of the candidate experience. The position requires an effective, consultative partnership with business leaders to assist in developing workforce plans and executing effective talent acquisition strategies.  The role will be based in the UK.


  • Work with regions to develop and execute talent acquisition strategies for regions in which we operate that are aligned with business strategies

  • Oversee search strategies for highly specialized and difficult-to-attract positions. 

  • Develop and lead staffing strategies for key company projects in Europe and the UK 

  • Directly and indirectly manage team members in a geographically dispersed environment

  • Recruit for key positions, including executive and senior leader roles, across geographies

  • Direct all talent acquisition activities in specified regions including the work of agencies, retained search partners, and affiliate recruiting resources.

  • Partner with the international HR leaders and the Director, Global Talent Acquisition to ensure consistency in global recruitment and human resources practices

  • Assist in defining effective employment brand and direct strategies by region to ensure a quality experience in the talent acquisition process for candidates and hiring managers

  • Ensure adherence to local government regulations as well as EU Data Privacy requirements

  • Source, attract, select and hire for professional openings in technology, administration and manufacturing operations.



  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Human Resources, or related discipline

  • 10+ years of experience in talent acquisition and/or human resources

  • 5+ years of experience leading a talent acquisition function including managing recruiters for a global manufacturing organization

  • Strong technical competency with recruiting including sourcing, interviewing, and candidate assessment

  • Expertise with selecting and implementing recruiting technology to include applicant tracking systems, social media, digital interviewing tools and on-line assessment vendors

  • Experience with MS Office tools

  • Experience in developing and reporting recruiting data and metrics that drive decision making

  • Demonstrated success in building and maintaining effective relationships with HR Business Partners, business leaders, and external vendors.

  • Communication skills, presentation skills, and exceptional interviewing skills

  • Results-oriented with excellent follow through skills

  • Demonstrated ability to operate independently and use sound judgment with limited functional guidance and oversight

  • Diverse HR background with knowledge of compensation, employee relations, and training preferred

  • International HR work experience living and working outside of country of origin

  • International work experience staffing major projects within Europe, the UK and Ireland 

  • Professional HR certification preferred

  • Must be multilingual with spoken and written fluency in at least 3 major languages

  • International travel required - typically 20-40%
