Reporting to the Chief Human Resources Officer, the Vice President Diversity and Inclusion develops and leads the company’s global D&I strategy and implements employee engagement, inclusion, communication, change management, and learning initiatives aligned with the global diversity strategy. This individual will partner with others to embed diversity and inclusion into our talent, learning and engagement processes, and will work with leaders and managers to create a sense of belonging, enabling employees to bring their best selves to WestRock and do their best work.
POSITION ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Create a vision and roadmap that fosters change, creates dialogue, and builds excitement about our company’s commitment to D&I
Build partnerships, assess needs and work directly with HR and business leaders to shape D&I strategy and solutions.
Consult with business units to determine needs and provide guidance for the design of diversity-based solutions that align with business unit objectives.
Work with Global Talent Management, Global Learning & Development, Supplier Diversity and Sustainability teams to integrate the D&I initiatives into the overall talent, learning and supplier agendas.
Steward global Employee Resources Groups or similar networks, ensuring charters, group leadership and support to drive meaningful employee connections and impact.
Stay abreast of diversity trends, best practices. Champion the diversity and inclusion change process in driving best practices, adoption, and compliance across the organization.
Drive the metrics, data and trend analytics and create effective dashboards to monitor, track progress and pinpoint areas where focus or action will yield positive progress.
Leverage data to provide insights to HR and business leaders so they can build impactful D&I plans and actions for their business/function.
Partner with global HR team, communications and business leadership to develop, communicate and implement enterprise-wide D&I strategy aligned with company culture, values and behaviors – leveraging our strengths and addressing gaps.
Interfaces with key customer account leads and contributes, as requested, to diversity discussions with our customers.
Build and maintain strong relationships with external stakeholders and outside organizations to further our diversity efforts.
College degree in related business field.
10+ years of progressive global HR business partner experience coupled with 3-5 years in a D&I leadership role.
Strategic and forward-thinking with strong business acumen and the ability to identify and proactively address impacts and disruptions.
Demonstrated leadership and ability to effectively communicate, build teams, and influence across boundaries. Works well in a matrix environment.
Experience leading large scale change efforts and managing compliance and risk while creating alignment globally.
Strong planning and implementation experience at scale.
Capability to work both strategically and hands-on to deliver results utilizing project/program management & leadership skills, C-suite presence and credibility, strong judgment, business instincts and high level of professionalism to lead major change and transformation initiatives.

Critical thinker with an analytical mindset
