Division Controller-Merchandising Displays – Norcross, GA
This position will report to the Vice President – Business Controllership and be responsible for ensuring the accuracy, completeness, and transparency of the financial statements for WestRock’s Merchandising Displays division. This position will partner closely with finance and operational teams to provide accounting support and will also serve as a central point of contact for the Company’s Home Office accounting and other functions. This position will ensure that the monthly, quarterly, and annual accounting close process is timely, accurate and complete. The division controller must be very collaborative, highly assertive, decisive, and communicative and must be able to attract, develop, and retain a talented accounting team. The division controller is also responsible for the divisions’ overall compliance to internal control and other SOX requirements.
How you will impact WestRock:
•Ensure that financial statements are accurately prepared in accordance with Company and applicable accounting policy.
•Direct the monthly close process across all the division.
•Ensure that all balance sheets across the division are accurate and fully supported.
•Partner with Financial Systems, IT and the business on system changes which have an accounting impact.
•Work with corporate accounting, consolidations, and North American Shared Services to ensure that all reporting deadlines are met and that intercompany balances are properly recorded and reconciled.
•Collaborate with the US-based Beverage division controller on monthly balance sheet reviews and quarterly EY analyses.
•Support internal and external audits and SOX compliance.
•Retain and develop accounting team members.
•Manage team budget and monthly forecast updates.
What you will need to succeed:
•Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting or related field from an accredited university, MBA and/or CPA is desired.
•15 + years of progressively more complex roles in Accounting, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
•Accountable with a hands-on and tactical approach to accomplishing results.
•Ability to work closely with and influence accounting, operational, finance, and other groups both inside and outside of their direct control.
•Understanding of underlying financial systems and the ability to quickly absorb and add value to business systems impacting financial reporting.
•Ability to proactively challenge and improve processes.
•Ability to manage the organization through change including standardization of accounting processes and centralization of accounting duties.
•Must be highly collaborative, assertive, and decisive.
•Understanding of accounting and internal control principles and be the divisional expert on both.
•Leadership skills guiding both direct reports and various stakeholders through processes and projects.
•Ability to assimilate and communicate major drivers of monthly performance and triangulate and validate performance on the income statement with movements on the balance sheet.
•Ability to hire, train, retain, and develop talent to ensure that the teams under their direction produce high quality accounting results on a monthly basis
•Communication skills to present vision, strategy, and issue resolution to senior management, stakeholders and support teams at all levels and in all areas of the company.
