Lead Payroll Analyst - Duluth, GA

The opportunity:

Completes assignments, which include but are not limited to payroll analytics, payroll system set-up and testing, ensuring and maintaining compliance, etc. with limited supervision. Ensures management and business partners stay informed of compliance changes and variances with analyses. Maintains strong relationships with internal and external business partners. Operates in an independent manner, but remains flexible for changing business needs


How you will impact WestRock:

  • Work with payroll team to analyze and assess compliance with federal, state and local tax regulations, state wage and hour regulations and pay requirements defined within collective bargaining agreements
  • Support mergers, acquisitions and divestitures to ensure seamless transition onto payroll system
  • Test and implement PeopleSoft images, software upgrades, and help define requirements for process improvements within payroll
  • Prepare monthly union deduction reconciliations for payments to union vendors
  • Work with accounting team to reconcile detail records to the general ledger payroll accounts as required
  • Prepare ad hoc management reports, analyses and presentations upon request
  • Participate in quarterly and year-end processes for US and Canada
  • Participate in the preparation and review of SOX controls and documentation process


What you need to succeed:

  • Four year degree required, CPP certification Preferred
  • Required 8 + years payroll experience to include mergers/acquisitions
  • Canadian payroll experience - Plus
  • Experience with PeopleSoft Required, JD Edwards Preferred
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Access)
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong PC, problem solving and analytical skills
