AP Operations Analyst – Duluth, GA

Career opportunity:

The North America Accounts Payable Team within the Accounting Operations Group is seeking an Analyst of Accounts Payable (AP) Operations to assist in overseeing the systems requirements, reporting and communication for the group.   This individual will report to the Senior Manager of AP Operations.  He or she will be responsible for providing frequent reporting for AP metrics, SLA’s, productivity and will be involved with continuous improvement initiatives in accounts payable.

The opportunity:


  • Provide analytical analysis to identify root causes of errors in accounts payable processing.  Once errors are identified assist with creating solutions.

  • Pull, analyze, and report relevant information from difference sources, including JDE, SAP, AVM, and other databases.

  • Assist the Business, IT and other Division and Corporate departments on system requirements, reporting and training.

  • Assist with maintaining complete and accurate training material.

  • Assist business with questions related to systems and provide training as needed.

  • Work with Accounts Payable team to ensure training and process documentation is maintained and up to date.

  • Ability to work in a dynamic environment under tight deadlines.

  • Participate in acquisition integration activities related to the AP department processes and systems.

  • Assist with other areas and special projects as required.


 How you will impact WestRock:

  • Provide solutions on upstream accounts payable processing issues

  • Provide regular reporting on operating metrics of accounts payable

  • Assist with maintaining the accuracy for accounts payable training material


What you need to succeed:

  • Strong analytical skillset for data manipulation and reporting experience

  • Knowledge of the Company's transaction policies and processes to ensure that transactions are properly reviewed, authorized, recorded, and executed.

  • Ability to understand and resolve data integrity and related inconsistencies or variances

  • Monitoring, Measurement and Metrics: Knowledge of key business drivers or measures used to gauge the effectiveness and performance of an internal group or a supplier; Ability to determine appropriate measures or metrics; Ability to measure against those standards; Ability to communicate performance standards and metrics.

  • Thorough understanding of the P2P process and the related financial impacts.

  • Able to respond quickly to changing demands, processes and updated information.

  • High ethical and performance standards for self and team.

  • Performance demonstrates value for quality and constantly strives to do better.




  • Undergraduate degree in Accounting, Finance or Business

  • 3+ years of accounting experience, accounts payable operational experience, or a combination of both

  • Good understanding of General Ledger accounts and basic accounting

  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy skills

  • Strong organizational skills; it is imperative to be able to respond quickly to an escalated situation and to gather and report findings quickly

  • Ability to work cross functionally with multiple teams in multiple locations

  • Expert in MS Office (including Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Word)

  • Experience with corporate ERP systems (JDE, SAP, Radius)
