Accounts Payable Manager, Business & Vendor Support, Duluth, GA


The opportunity

The North America Accounts Payable Team within the Accounting Operations Group is seeking a Manager, AP Business & Vendor Support to provide leadership to the AP help desk and Senior Analysts for the group. This individual will supervise (direct & indirect) a team of 10+ to include an AP Supervisor, Sr AP Analysts and staff, and will report to the Senior Director Accounts Payable.  He or she will work closely with external suppliers, Business Unit personnel, IT, Division and Corporate Departments and external service providers.


How you will impact WestRock:

  • Provides accurate and timely accounts payable leadership and support to internal business units / departments and external customers / vendors. 

o     Management of AP help desk Supervisor and staff

o     Direct supervision and oversight of Senior AP analysts responsible for vendor analysis and support to internal customers (Plant Purchasers, Category Managers, local requisitioners, Finance & Accounting, HR & Recruiting, Information IT, Indirect Tax)

o     Collaborate with accounting & finance on analysis and clearing of RNV and GRIR balances

o     Train Senior AP Analysts on tool used to research suspected duplicate invoices and proper resolution

  • Evaluate processes and procedures to improve efficiency of subordinates and department

  • Establish, monitor and report department’s metrics & service level agreement

o     Analyze help desk and AP Analysts productivity and make recommendations for increased efficiency and effectiveness

o     Evaluate and set individual staff performance metrics

o     Develop daily, weekly and monthly reporting to management and internal customers

  • Management of the AP Audit Recovery process and relationship and governance of third-party provider

  • Accounts Payable process improvement initiatives and other special projects as required

o     Partnering with IT and Performance Excellence on identifying and implementing robotics and automation opportunities

  • Thorough understanding of the P2P process and the related financial impacts

  • Ensure compliance with SOX processes and support audit requests as needed

  • Provide accounting support related to department invoices and accruals

  • Be an active part of assessing, recruiting and hiring efforts for the AP team

What you need to succeed:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance or relevant discipline

  • Minimum 7- 10 years Accounts Payable and Customer Service experience

  • Minimum 3 years Supervisory / Management experience

  • Customer service and continuous improvement mindset

  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills

  • Experience with and comfortable in pursuing problem resolution with personnel at different levels of the organization and external vendors

  • Ability to work cross functionally with multiple teams in multiple locations

  • Multi-task/manage multiple projects/requests in a fast-paced environment

  • Task and detailed oriented; ability to work on an individual basis as well as on a team

  • Strong working knowledge of ERP systems such as JDE and SAP

  • Use of customer service ticketing systems (ServiceNow) and creation of reports

  • Advanced Microsoft office skills with an emphasis in Excel

  • Must be flexible and adaptable
