The Electrical Project Engineer position responsibility includes managing, planning, organizing, and implementing capital engineering projects within constraints of specific objectives and target dates. The successful candidate will need experience in project management with technical skills to coordinate different disciplines within the Engineering Department, Operations, Maintenance, Engineering Firms, Vendors and Contractors. The position requires supporting and managing tasks associated with Management of Change projects for maintenance and operations.  

How you will impact WestRock:

  • Perform and or manage all detailed design and construction of approved capital projects with the objective of meeting technical, cost, and safety goals
  • Perform Engineering studies and complete front-end planning stages for capital jobs

  • Outlines project requirements and provide
technical assistance on capital projects from design through completion and commissioning.

  • Inspect completed installations and Ensure that all projects are installed per applicable regulatory codes (OSHA, IEEE, NFPA, NEC, etc.)
  • Comply with corporate project standards and reporting timelines.
  • Coordinate outside resources to assist with operational improvements.

What you need to succeed: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering
  • 5+ years of experience in industrial manufacturing with Pulp & Paper experience preferred but not required
  • Project management experience, PMP Certification a plus but not required
  • Excellent trouble shooting skills with a demonstrated continuous improvement mindset.

  • Excellent communicator both verbally and written

  • JDE Experience Preferred

  • Drafting and CAD (AutoCAD) training/experience

  • Experience in four or more of the following areas:

o Power distribution systems

o Process instrumentation systems

o Process Design

o Distributed control systems

o Programmable logic controllers

o Coordinated drive systems

o Variable speed AC and DC drives

o Low and medium voltage motor control centers

  • Support safety and environmental compliance.
  • Knowledge of short circuit, arc flash and load calculations
  • Familiar with Easy Power or ETAP
