The Opportunity:

 

This position provides leadership and support to improve, increase, and optimize the reliability of the mill process equipment and eliminate unscheduled equipment downtime. This position works within the reliability department and reports to the Maintenance Reliability & Planning Manager.

The Stevenson Mill is a complex, fully integrated pulp and paper manufacturing facility with two machines that manufacture corrugated medium and is one of North America’s largest semi-chemical pulp and paper mill.  Stevenson, Alabama is centrally located between Chattanooga, Tennessee and Huntsville, Alabama.  This is a unionized facility with approximately 400 employees.

 

How you will impact WestRock:

  • Manage the lubrication and inspection program.

  • Recommend innovative solutions to increase equipment and facility life

  • Reduce maintenance costs through the analysis of repetitive equipment failures/breakdowns and predictive maintenance analysis reports

  • Drive Root Cause Failure Analysis process

  • Resolve mechanical reliability issues to increase process reliability and decrease cost (mill wide)

  • Provide leadership and daily technical assistance for mechanical issues for the maintenance organization

  • Managing maintenance resources or contractors during outages or project implementation 

 

What you need to succeed:

  • The preferred candidate will possess a Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical or Reliability Engineering, OR 3-5 years career progression from Technician role with reliability projects experience (if no Bachelors Degree)

  • Experience planning and implementing maintenance / reliability projects

  • Must have some proficiency with Excel (understand reporting, understand data / metrics)

  • 2+ year’s reliability experience

  • Driven, self-motivated

  • Strong engineering, analytical, and problem-solving skills

  • Effective communication and leadership skills

 

Plus (Not Required):

  • Experience in Pulp and Paper or related industry is a plus

  • JD Edwards experience is a plus
