Career Opportunity 

The communications analyst is responsible for supporting a variety of internal and external communications for the WestRock’s Covington mill. 


How You will impact WestRock 

·        Assists communications manager in internal and external communications as well as media relations, providing effective and efficient communications support in a timely manner, sometimes under tight deadlines

·        Acts as company representative / liaison in employee and community projects and other public / social gatherings

·        Supports and communicates organizational change initiatives

·        Supports content development through researching, writing, and proofreading copy for communications projects

·        Assists with preparation and coordination of releases, including drafting, distribution, Covington intranet posting

·        Maintains PR section of Covington intranet site

·        Prepares the weekly newsletter and other publications as needed using PhotoShop and InDesign

·        Assists in creating presentations and helps with logistics for mill visitors

·        Assists in creation of distribution lists and content for mass mailings for employee / retiree / community communications

·        Assists with event planning

·        Prepares / assists with intern activities and communications

·        Assist in management of conference center (Training Center)

·        Maintain / order supplies for Communications department

·        Assist with community donations

·        Participates on teams and projects, as needed

·        Developmental role for broader communication positions

·        Other duties as required


What You Need to Succeed

·        BS/BA in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, Journalism, English, Graphic Design, or related field or equivalent experience

·        Previous experience desired in communications, including preparing news releases, intranet content development, employee communication development, publication layout / design 

·        Successful track record of managing projects effectively and efficiently

·        Interpersonal skills in building and managing relationships with internal clients and external stakeholders, including senior WestRock leadership and community members

·        Must be able to maintain confidentiality when required

·        Must be a detail-oriented self-starter, energetic, organized, and able to multi-task in a fast paced environment with little supervision

·        Must have excellent communication skills (language, writing, and presentation)

·        Must have good working knowledge in MS Word, Excel, Publisher, and PowerPoint as well as Adobe InDesign and Photoshop

·        Flexibility to work nights and weekends as needed; occasional travel

·        A willingness to learn and a positive attitude
