The Item Master Conversion Analyst will lead WestRock’s MRO parts data conversion and migration projects from legacy business systems to JD Edwards.  The position requires travel ability of up to 75% to WestRock mills/plants. Ability to commute to the Duluth office is preferable, but not required. When not traveling for conversions, the candidate will work on various Item Master data quality projects  with the Item Master team.  This role will interact with leaders within Procurement, IT, Operations, and the Technical Services Group (TRG), as well as external vendors.


How you will impact WestRock:


  • The IMCA will Prepare data conversion plans, procedures, scripts, tools, and reports

  • Instruct WestRock mill/plant personnel and/or contractor crew on storeroom data collection process using the enterprise’s data collection platform: Integrity

  • Collaborate with mill/plant maintenance, corporate tax dept, and accounting to ensure appropriate item values and data accuracy before loading into JD Edwards.

  • Compile, review, and validate item and/or reference data, accurately converting and cleansing storeroom data and uploading into JD Edwards

  • Carry out data conversion and migration testing and prepare related documentation

  • Provide Integrity access and train designated associates on the use of the Item Request portal

  • Provide employee support for purchasing and inventory management (P&IM) related functions during the first week of mill/plant go-live on JD Edwards

  • Continually evaluate data collection/conversion/migration procedures for process improvement

  • Develop data conversion best practices based on lessons learned and industry standards

  • Lead ad-hoc data management related projects


Training, Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:


  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline preferred, or equivalent experience

  • Minimum of 5 years of core data management experience (i.e. understanding of data dictionaries, electronic data transfers, item/supplier segmentation, enforcing data governance standards, etc.)

  • Experience with manufacturing, MRO parts, and inventory management – required

  • Working knowledge of JD Edwards and experience with data conversions - preferred

  • Prior process management experience - preferred

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, and ability to manage large datasets

  • Advanced Excel (formulas, pivot tables, etc.) - required

  • Experience working with relational databases (SQL Server, Oracle, Access) - preferred

  • Action and detail oriented. Ability to work in a fast-paced, time sensitive environment

  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously

  • Strong interpersonal, communication, analytical and problem-solving skills - required

  • Demonstrated ability to work as part of a cross-functional team and willingness to take on responsibilities outside primary job description when necessary
