Latin America Logistics Manager
Summary of Position
Responsible for Logistics management and transportation sourcing to/from Latin America. This position will play a key logistics role supporting WestRock growth in the region. Short-term focus will be establishing the logistics plan to support the Monterrey Mill recycle fiber consumption. The position will report to Enterprise Logistics with strong alignment with Vice President, Fiber Supply Development supporting the Monterrey Mill recycle fiber supply project. The individual is also responsible for identifying optimized incoterms for best delivered cost solution, cost savings initiatives, project management and implementation, contract negotiations, building relationships with all internal departments to manage business expectations and requirements.
§ Develop regional market knowledge regarding transportation within area of responsibility.
§ Mange transportation spend with a focus on value and results through cost reduction, cost avoidance, process improvement and demand management
§ Manage carrier relationships
§ Focus on continual improvement and streamlining of processes
§ Proactively communicate with top level leadership
§ Develop and execute sourcing strategies for area of responsibility
§ Plan, organize and direct functions and activities related to the procurement, servicing, operation, and continuous improvement for Logistics opportunities within area of responsibility.
§ Manage carrier performance on a daily and weekly basis to improve on-time pickup/delivery, EDI performance, tender acceptance, equipment quality, safety ratings, etc.
§ Manage and improve core carrier program by removing poor performers and adding new carriers (niche/regional/national)
§ Monthly reporting and metric requirements and provide further enhancement for improved analysis
§ Build relationships with plant personnel (general managers and shipping) to better understand how transportation solutions impact operations.
§ Work closely with Load Control Center to improve carrier performance.
§ Facilitate national truck/intermodal RFP that includes the facilities and lanes within area of responsibility.
§ Manage daily procurement activities that includes interaction and requests from sales, operations and supply chain.
§ Capability to generate an energizing vision for change, provide leadership and focus of strategic goals
§ Professional oral, written communication and presentation skills
Qualifications and Special Skills Required
§ Bachelor's Degree
§ Minimum 5 years Logistics Management experience
§ Skilled in supplier relations, including carrier development, pricing negotiations, contract negotiations, and performance monitoring.
§ Import/Export experience preferred
§ Ability to address issues and problem solve on a strategic and operational level
§ Proficient with Spanish language required
§ Proven experience in leading change
§ Strong Analytical and Problem-solving skills
§ Strong communication and presentation skills
§ Self-directed and ability to multi-task
§ Ability to influence stakeholders
§ Six Sigma certification desired
§ Experience as Team Lead, Project Lead, Supervisor or Manager desired
§ Thorough knowledge of Microsoft Office Applications (Excel and Access)
§ Approximately 20-30% travel
§ Transportation Management System (TMS) experience desirable
