The Opportunity:

The Account Manager is a customer-facing role with responsibilities relating to both internal and external relationship management and bridging customer needs with operational requirements.


As Account Manager, you will bring your relational and organizational skills to work every day insuring that the customer is happy with their relationship to WestRock and the plant is operationally capable of meeting their need.


Your responsibilities as a team member include the following:



  1. Help develop safety rules, procedures, and proactive measures to ensure a safe working environment.

  2. Engage in proactively identifying and removing hazards.

  3. Report any and all near misses, incidents, first aid rendered, or unsafe working conditions to the Plant Manager and Safety Manager immediately without exception.

Daily/Monthly Duties

  1. Confirm and enter new orders (releases)

  2. Schedule deliveries for outgoing shipments

  3. Freight bill approvals

  4. Update work in process and corrugated inventories daily for the production/schedule meeting

  5. Update Schedule Assistant with Plant Manager

  6. Create job jackets (include customer pricing, changes, etc...)

  7. Manage corrugated orders and assign the material to production orders

  8. Manage board orders and assign the material to production orders

  9. Manage sample, proof, and color standard approvals for new/transfer business

  10. Collect outstanding balances on accounts receivable

  11. Month-end reporting duties/reports

  12. Call on and enter customer complaints

  13. Coordinate quality planning sessions on new/transfer business

  14. Enforce FIFO (First In First Out) shipping practices

  15. Help answer phones and direct calls

  16. Effectively communicate with customers and plant at all levels

  17. Responsible for product safety and product quality, and reports product safety and product quality problems to Senior Management or Quality Manager.

  18. Backup Customer Service Manager



What You Need to Succeed:

  1. Professional communication skills and the ability to effectively interface with personnel at all levels of the Company.  Clear, concise, written and verbal.

  2. Good judgment and ability to handle stressful customer situations.

  3. Interpersonal flexibility and strong customer service orientation.

  4. A self-starter with a strong ability to manage a variety of issues/projects simultaneously; able to work autonomously; ability to meet multiple deadlines.
