Applications Sales Engineer – Box On Demand - Los Angeles, CA

The opportunity:

Box On Demand by WestRock is in the unique position of being at the very front end of providing an extremely innovative solution into the large, but until now mature corrugated box market.  With this, Box on Demand is enjoying rapid growth and is looking for highly capable, energetic individuals who see the opportunity to help drive this evolving market in a small, agile company environment.


The Applications Sales Engineer will work closely with our Sales, Marketing & Technical Support groups to deliver new sales, and where necessary, support existing customer installations.


How you will impact Box On Demand:

The Company objective for this person is to represent Box On Demand at its current and targeted customers to support the selling process from an engineering/ technical standpoint.  A key part of our process is to provide consultation and support related to the implementation of our On Demand Box Making technology into our customer’s operations. 

 

The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Actively engage with current and potential customers in support of our sales effort

  • Assess & under Box On Demand technology provide formal recommendations, reports, and proposals as needed

  • Oversee installation of new deals into customer site(s)

  • Follow new installations to ensure customer is utilizing the new system as intended prior to deal signing

  • Research direct and associated technologies related to implementation of the Box On Demand technology across current and potential vendors.  Examples include working with Software companies to manage / create connectivity and interactivity with our equipment, as well as understanding customer’s downstream filling, packing and shipping processes.

  • Work closely with our Technical Support Department as required to implement customer solutions

  • Provide customer and market feedback to our Marketing and Technical Support groups to drive new and refined sales offerings as part of our product development process

  • Significant Travel Required – 60%+

  • Assume other responsibilities as may be required.

     

    What you need to succeed:

  • BS in Engineering required.  Mechanical or Industrial Engineering degree or similar preferred.  GPA of 3.0 or higher

  • Sales aptitude and/or experience in a technical environment

  • Machine, software design and packaging line design experience is a plus.

  • Has proven strong customer interaction skills combined with a strong track record of “getting the job done”.

  • Experience in consultative engineering, report writing and customer presentations

  • Possesses strong communications skills, both written and verbal.

  • Is very proficient with a personal computer and various types of software programs including MS Office programs such as Word, Excel and PowerPoint & CAD

  • Excellent communication skills.  Ability to read and interpret documents such as operating instructions, and training and procedure manuals.

  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
