GENERAL PURPOSE: 

Recognize, adapt, and implement changes in printing workflow. Understand systems based on workflow and software needs.  Use knowledge of printing processes to carry out procedures of jobs based on quick turnaround.

 

ESEENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

·            Analyzes customer files for possible production concerns.

·            Follows spec book and print instructions.

·            Edits customer supplied files for printer specific requirements.

·            Checks laser prints for accuracy.

·            Creates a mock up to determine any gluing issues or other 3D problems.

·            Traps and separates files using Prinergy Packflow.

·            Checks trapped and separated job in Acrobat.

·            Retouches supplied images for color correction as needed.

·            Maintains digital file library.

·            Makes approval match prints as needed.

·            Outputs plates as needed.

·            Checks printed press sheets for accuracy.

·            Performs other job duties as assigned.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

·            Must have a high school diploma or general education degree (G.E.D

·            Must have minimum of five years’ experience in graphic arts/printing industry. 

·            Must have hands on knowledge of Quark, Illustrator, Photoshop, trapping, Macintosh, file management, network utilizations and workflow and maintenance/troubleshooting.

·            Must have a working knowledge of networking and OS X system.

·            Must have a thorough knowledge of offset, digital and flexo printing.

·            Must have thorough knowledge of all major software applications including high end trapping program.

·            Must be able to use and read a ruler.

·            Must be detailed oriented, willing to continuously improve, and a good team player.

·            Must have the ability to write and speak in English.

·            Must have the ability to read and comprehend complex instructions, in English.

·            Must have the ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from internal and external customers.

·            Must have the ability to read and interpret documents in English such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.

·            Must have the ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures or governmental regulations in English.

·            Must have the ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and boards of directors.

·            Must have the ability to calculate figures and amounts such as proportion and percentages.

·            Must have proficiency in advanced computer operations such as relational databases and operating systems.

·            Must have proficiency in intermediate software packages such as words processing, spreadsheets, graphics, etc.

·            Must have basic office equipment and communication skills including copy and fax machines, telephone communication, and record keeping.

·            Must have the ability to establish, maintain and retrieve permanent files.

·            Must pass color hue test

·            Must pass basic reading test.

·            Must pass ruler test.

·            Must be able to maintain good attendance.

·            Must be willing to work overtime as needed; significant overtime may be required during busy periods.

·            Must be able to perform all essential functions of this job with or without reasonable accommodation.
