Gluer Operator – Lanett, Alabama

To maintain gluing quality levels throughout production runs and to ensure that makereadies and gluing speeds are at standard or above.

Key Activities/Responsibilities

  • Makeready gluers
  • Perform all required SOP’s for safety, quality and production
  • Ensure that all makeready time and net run speed is at the job standard or better
  • Direct and assist crew members with other tasks as needed including relieving for breaks
  • Accurate record all quality and production data
  • Responsible for supporting safety, housekeeping, quality and productivity on the Gluer.
  • Follow all safety rules and procedures, and actively participate in the plant safety process to support the goal of zero injuries.
  • Makeready gluers for new jobs
  • Ensure that all running speeds are up to standards or above
  • Inspect for print/cut and carton quality defects
  • Test for glue bond to ensure that cartons meet specifications
  • Setup, operate and maintain the tape machine, ink jet printer, label machine
  • Meet the highest level of equipment production uptime
  • Accurately input production data into the BPCS system
  • Actively participate in the preventative maintenance program

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • High School diploma required
  • 1-2 years experience in gluing folding cartons or comparable manufacturing experience
  • Ability to read materials to understand and apply content such as instruction manuals, procedure manuals, or assembly manuals
  • Ability to write in order to accomplish such tasks as completing forms or communicating simple instructions
  • Ability to perform basic mathematics such as additions, subtraction, multiplication, and division
  • Ability to carry out tasks which require a sequence of steps usually performed in a particular order – the problems are routine and easy to recognize
  • Ability to make decisions that are short-range and usually affect only a small group or work team
  • Ability to complete tasks as assigned by others with occasional directions
  • Ability to communicate to explain or interpret well-defined business issues or procedures following established patterns
  • Must wear safety glasses, safety shoes, hearing protection and other safety gear as required
  • Continuous standing and walking
  • Occasional kneeling, crouching, squatting and bending
  • Frequent lifting, climbing and grasping
  • Continuous use of vision to distinguish depth perception and verify print accuracy
  • Ability to work any shift (night or day)
  • Ability to work in an uncontrolled temperature environment (hot or cold)
