The opportunity:

The OCC Superintendent has the overall responsibility for the direction and leadership, maintenance, and operation of the Seminole Mill OCC department.   This position is critical to managing the safe and reliable operations of equipment in the stock preparation area of the mill. This position reports directly to the Operations Manager.

 

 How you will impact WestRock:

  • Responsible for the day-to-day management of the stock prep areas for two paper machines, while interfacing with the powerhouse, shipping, and maintenance departments to resolve daily issues.

  • Responsible for employee safety, machine efficiency, product quality, and crew training.

  • Troubleshoots equipment operation problems as well as identifies productivity, quality and efficiency bottlenecks.

  • Supports capital projects to maintain and improve safety, quality and production.

  • Works with maintenance department to make daily repairs and modifications. Plans and executes preventative maintenance shutdowns to minimize scheduled and unscheduled machine downtime, eliminate liabilities and improve machine performance.

  • Effective daily communication with crew, peers, and day shift management.

  • Promotes the safe and healthy working conditions and recommends measures to reduce or eliminate accident and health hazards in compliance with federal, state, local, and corporate regulations

  • Enforces safety regulations, company policies, and standard operating procedures

  • Establishes and / or adjusts work procedures to meet production schedules

  • Improve efficiency and effectiveness of department operations by analyzing the processes and utilizing all available tools, technology, and outside resources.

  • Build positive relations based on the WestRock culture of trust, respect, and empowering employees to always do the right thing.

  • Initiates and / or suggests plans to invest in our People to help them develop and operate at their full potential

 

What you need to succeed:

  • 5 or more years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Bachelor’s Degree from 4-year college/university preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, PI, and Statistical Software

  • Good Interpersonal skills and ability to influence people

  • Good organizational skills

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Able to motivate people to perform at a higher level
