The opportunity:


The Manufacturing Supervisor provides supervision and direction to approximately 35 hourly employees, in all mill operating areas, on a rotating 12-hour shift schedule.  The Manufacturing Supervisor assures compliance to established safety rules/policies/procedures, environmental compliance, customer quality and production specifications.  Plans and controls production performance as measured by key performance indicators.  Actively leads and participates in the plant safety, housekeeping, and continuous improvement efforts.  Works with employees to develop the necessary skills to perform job tasks as outlined in the work instructions


 How you will impact WestRock:

  • Promotes the safe and healthy working conditions and recommends measures to reduce or eliminate accident and health hazards in compliance with federal, state, local, and corporate regulations

  • Enforces safety regulations, company policies, and standard operating procedures

  • Maintain compliance within EPA, FDEP, SJRWMD, and Corporate guidelines, rules, and environmental laws

  • Establishes and / or adjusts work procedures to meet production schedules

  • Makes and implements recommendations to improve safety, quality / customer satisfaction, and Machine Availability and Overall Machine Efficiency (OME)

  • Analyzes and resolves work problems, and / or assists workers in solving work problems

  • Initiates and / or suggests plans to motivate workers to achieve department and mill goals

  • Maintains time and production records

  • Sets up machines and equipment to meet safety, quality, and production objectives

  • Conduct safety and crew meetings monthly every shift


    What you need to succeed:

  • 3-5 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Minimum High School education required (in combination with significant work experience in a similar role); B.S. Degree in Engineering or Pulp and Paper curriculum preferred

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, PI, and Statistical Software

  • Good Interpersonal skills and ability to influence people

  • Good organizational skills

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Able to motivate people to perform at a higher level
