Laminating Operator-Lead, MPS Chicago- Downers Grove

  • Ensures that all employees and temps in the Lamination area have demonstrated an understanding of Jets safety program requirements.
  • Trains all employees on how to handle laminated and unlaminated sheets in a manner that does not cause additional defects to the product.
  • Instructs employees on how to identify and define quality characteristics of an acceptable laminated sheet including; mag placement, lamination, and adhesion.
  • Trains employees on proper techniques in posting activities into Prism.

·        Ensures that SOPs and inspection requirements are properly performed.

·        Fills in as an operator for lunches and breaks or as needed.

·        Ensures required equipment maintenance procedures and required documentation are properly executed.

·        Responsible for ensuring all sheets are checked against sample proofs and conduct various tests to ensure quality standards are met.

  • Inputs recipes into Filemaker including type of laminate and any special instructions on how the job was produced.
  • Properly identifies and labels test sheets; prints out label from Filemaker and applies to test sheets.
  • Notifies purchaser of materials or consumables as needed using Kanban signals.  Communicates concerns or adjustments to inventory if needed.
  • Follows production schedule and directs operators to ensure a productive flow. 
  • Stages loads to meet schedule requirements for the Burkle that they will be running on.
  • Ensures that all required paperwork and documentation is complete as required per area’s SOPs.
  • Ensures 5s requirements are met and demonstrates continuous improvement of area.
  • Verifies all visual boards are properly filled in as required (includes maintenance).
  • Ensures good communication between crews and shifts while enforcing a positive productive environment.
  • Performs other job duties as assigned.



  • 1 – 2 years’ experience of operating similar lamination equipment preferred.
  • Experience in a lead role preferred.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Must be able to maintain good attendance.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Must be willing to work overtime as needed; significant overtime may be required during busy periods.
  • Must be reliable and dependable.
  • Must be able to perform all essential functions of this job with or without reasonable accommodation
