WestRock seeks an Assistant General Manager (AGM) for our recycle facility in Columbus OH. WestRock Columbus Recycle is a paper and plastic recycling facility committed to growing our market position in the Columbus area through providing customers recycling solutions to meet their objectives. Our success is directly related to our ability to operate our processing systems in a highly productive and efficient manner. The Assistant General Manager’s primary responsibility is the overall operation of the facility and reports direct to the General Manager.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following areas:
Provide leadership in creating an accident free safety culture driven through employee engagement
Establish a leadership role in the Plant Safety Committee as well as toolbox and shift change meetings
Create an environment geared towards risk recognition and prevention utilizing corporate assistance as well as awareness and audit programs.
Responsible for implementation and training of all required Safety programs and initiatives.
Drive performance excellence in plant processing systems through improved uptime, throughput, and recovery maximization.
Measure, record, and track performance indicators for key processes to identify and drive improvement opportunities
Identify and implement performance and savings initiatives while maintaining the highest level of customer satisfaction and return
Maintain finished product specifications per customer quality requirements.
Coordinate operational flow and production to maximize overall efficiency and achieve performance goals of both plant and division
Supervise the scheduling and receipt of inbound materials and shipment of outbound finished product.
Create and maintain an effective work force through personnel training and development.
Support and coordinate maintenance inspections, PM’s, repairs, and projects to maximize overall performance, recovery, and uptime.
Assist General Manager Budgeting and Forecasting operational related items.

Maintain WestRock purchasing and accounting guidelines in the procurement of operational related goods and services.
Maintain compliance in all areas including, but not limited to, OSHA, EPA, DOT and all local codes.
Maintaining the security of all company assets and information.
What You Need to Succeed:
Must be proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
Strong Leader with a high sense of urgency to take action
Bachelor’s degree required
MBA and Lean Manufacturing experience a plus
Motivated to learn and grow in the industry -Ability to travel for training and project participation
Experience in the waste industry a plus (recycle, document destruction, waste hauling)
3+ years of industrial or manufacturing experience required
Experienced in Supervising and Leading others.
Previous experience in electrical or mechanical areas is a plus.
Willingness to relocate for career advancement opportunities.
