The opportunity:

The Training and AE Master Black Belt is a key role in driving transformational change across our company.  The role of organized Continuous Improvement (CI) activities within WestRock has grown dramatically since the company’s creation, and a talented person with strong training and organizing skills is required to help our team meet all the diverse CI training needs.

The Training and AE MBB will be responsible for the growth, development, and management of both our current book of Lean Six Sigma training, as well as future offerings as needed by the organization.  The Training and AE MBB will partner with customers within the Performance Excellence organization as well as those across WestRock to create and execute training that accelerates the pace of change and engages our coworkers everywhere.

Additionally, the Training and AE MBB will participate in the deployment of Lean Six Sigma in transactional areas of the company, providing support in project identification and execution, as well as belt mentoring.  Strong influencing skills and a background that includes success leading change in “front office” transactional processes are a must.

The role will be based in the company’s headquarters in the Atlanta area, but training needs occur and Lean Six Sigma deployments happen globally.


  • Support the ongoing deployment of existing training vehicles such as (Black, Green, and Yellow Belt).  Practice continuous improvement on existing training
  • Develop and deploy additional CI training to meet the needs of both the Performance Excellence team and WestRock (Master Black Belt, refresher training, continuing education training, etc.)
  • As a member of the Administrative Excellence team, develop workstream gap analysis and plan to close the gaps. (Better resource management, training needed, identify process drift)
  • Provide functional support for Black Belts, Green Belts and Practitioners to ensure principles of Lean Six Sigma are understood, utilized and implemented in project work in your assigned workstream
  • Coordinate segment periodic report out of projects to Leadership Team
  • Identify and ensure best practices are shared and implemented
  • Collaborate with LSS professionals within corporate group to improve processes and increase effectiveness for the entire organization.


  • BS/BA; Technical Degree Preferred
  • History of passionate leadership, development and delivery of training
  • History of success leading Lean Six Sigma in transactional processes, preferably for a manufacturing company
  • Relevant years of industry experience with progressive growth in responsibility
  • History of business impact while working in Continuous Improvement roles
  • Passion for Continuous Improvement and ability to make others successful
  • Master Black Belt certification with demonstrated ability to consistently deliver financial results
  • Demonstrated ability to coach, teach, and mentor technical and non-technical knowledge to hourly and salaried employees
  • Strong financial acumen with ability to create financial models used to support project selection and determine net project value to the P&L
  • Proficiency with Minitab, Microsoft Office, Visio, and/or SharePoint
  • Sense of urgency to achieve results
  • Clear and effective communication skills
  • Ability to manage and drive change
  • Willingness to travel up to 50%
  • Language proficiency (French, Spanish, or Portuguese) helpful
