The opportunity:

The Performance Excellence System Practitioner role is designed to coach and guide the implementation of the Performance Excellence System (PES) which is a Lean Six Sigma deployment into the WestRock organization.  This role is the direct conduit between the tactical/operational and strategic initiatives in the organization. This position requires a leader who facilitates and drives change in a fast paced and “ever changing” environment leveraging his/her strong interpersonal and influencing skills. 

 

Key to success in this position is the ability to work within and across the organization at all levels creating value and buy-in as the key change facilitator for the Performance Excellence System deployment.

 

WestRock corporate office is located in Atlanta, GA. This position could be based in Atlanta or remotely, close to a major metropolitan airport.

This role will require 80% travel and may require relocation.

 

How you will impact WestRock:

The PES Practitioner role is responsible for the deployment and ongoing sustainment of the PES Pillar system across the division.  In addition, the Practitioner is responsible for the training/coaching of Performance Excellence Leaders at the local plant level.  The Practitioner will also support and execute kaizens and LSS projects to meet division/region/plant savings goals. 

This position will be focused on driving improvements in revenue and driving cost out of the business through more effective processes, elimination of non-value added or duplicate efforts, waste and other related defects in the process.

Specific Responsibilities Include:

  • Align with strategic objectives for the Division/Region/Plant and Execute PES to accomplish them

  • Perform education to pillar teams and steering committee

  • Train teams to utilize lean six sigma tools and methodology

  • Serve as multi-site implementation leader

  • Serve as multi-site sustainment leader

  • Provide and share foundational best-practices

  • Ensure alignment to the system across plants

  • Identify opportunities to improve processes to support Division/Region/Plant goals

  • Support and execute kaizens and LSS projects to deliver hard cost savings

  • Travel required 80%

What you need to succeed:

This position will act as a change agent to instill Lean Six Sigma culture and principles and ensure they are utilized consistently throughout the organization.

Critical Competencies

  • Exceptional knowledge and skill in Continuous Improvement

  • Lean Six Sigma Black Belt certification required

  • Coaching and communications skills

  • Strong leadership abilities

  • Strategic Planning and Execution

  • Professional maturity – work with all levels

  • Financial Acumen

Education

  • 4 year degree required, Technical Degree preferred (Engineering, Finance, Etc)

  • Performance Excellence System Pillar training provided

  • Lean Six Sigma Black Belt Required

Experience

  • Minimum 10 years of manufacturing / operations experience

  • Minimum 5 years of manufacturing Continuous Improvement experience

  • Preferred similar experience in Lean Operating Systems

  • Prefer leadership of deployment of Lean Operating Systems

  • Packaging experience preferred
