The Opportunity:

The Electrician is responsible for installing, maintaining and repairing all electrical equipment within the plant.  Performs minor mechanical repairs and assists the mechanics as needed.  

How you will impact WestRock:


Plant/Machinery Maintenance


  • Ensure electrical equipment within the plant is regularly serviced and operating  at maximum safe production levels
  • Operate necessary equipment/tools to perform repairs
  • Able to read electrical and mechanical blue prints to determine how problem is to be approached
  • Perform Electrical PM activities as outlined
  • Track completed work through a CMMS (labour hours, parts, repair comments…)
  • Have a “do it right the first time approach”


Trouble Shooting


  • Work closely with plant personnel on troubleshooting and problem solving initiatives
  • Read and understand blue prints, specifications, and manufacturers manuals
  • Able to take direction from Lead Electrician


Preventative Maintenance


  • Perform PMs on all electrical equipment within the plant to ensure optimal operation and safety
  • Participate in lock out verification programs
  • Able to complete relevant PM paperwork


Leadership & Communication

  • Fluent English writing and communication skills
  • Able to communicate professionally with peers and managers alike
  • Able to take charge of projects and assigned tasks
  • Self-sufficient and proficient in trade
  • Work closely with plant personnel and promote team work


Install New Electrical Systems


  • Follow electrical schematics as supplied
  • Able to create material lists, provide input on most efficient installation options and perform installation according to Canadian Electrical Code

 What you need to succeed:

  • Minimum of grade 12 education – college education in electrical program preferred
  • 5-10 years’ experience in a manufacturing environment is required
  • Electrician license/certificate is required (442A, including completion of formal apprenticeship program)
  • 309A Construction and Maintenance License an asset
  • Electronic and P.L.C. experience
  • Full understanding of CEC and compliance
  • Able to read and understand blue prints, specifications, and manufacturer’s manuals
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills required
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills required (fluent English writing and communication skills)
  • Strong safety orientation – follows safety procedures (i.e., Lockout) 100% of the time
  • Lift truck license an asset.
