The Safety & Environmental Coordinator, Knoxville Folding Carton, provides technical and health support to production and administrative personnel to ensure compliance with federal/state safety and environmental regulations.  Develops plant specific safety, health and environmental programs and objectives and coordinates corresponding training programs as necessary.  Provide leadership and support for management team, safety pillar and sub pillar teams.


Responsibilities & Duties:


  • Lead Safety Pillar Steering Teams and provide leadership and support to all Safety Sub Pillar Teams

  • Maintain our Safety & Environmental Management Systems

  • Ensure Compliance with all applicable OSHA & EPA reporting and regulations

  • Ensure all required OSHA, EPA & Company safety & environmental training is completed

  • Ensure safety & environmental rule compliance within all departments and shifts

  • Ensure completion of Investigation and Corrective Actions for all incidents / near misses

  • Maintain and facilitate our safety information systems for data integrity

  • Facilitate monthly plant safety meetings

  • Performs safety training for new hires and re-training for current employees

  • Supports employees in selection of appropriate personal protective equipment

  • Monitors lost-time injuries/illnesses and workers compensation claims

  • Lead with a “Team Based” problem solving approach

  • Lead plant in building and reinforcing a “safety first” culture across all shifts

  • Reward, recognize and celebrate accomplishments and improvements


    Team Membership

  • Member of Plant Leadership Team

  • Leader of Safety Pillar Steering Team

  • Member of SQF / HACCP Team

  • Participates on process improvement teams as needed


    What You Need to Succeed:

  • Knowledge of manufacturing environment

  • Outgoing and positive attitude; strong interpersonal skills; able to have fun!

  • Experience with Microsoft Excel, Word and Power Point a strong plus (will be using extensively)

  • Comfortable making presentations and speaking in public

  • Bachelor’s degree required.  Degree in a safety science or environmental field a strong plus
