Safety Manager – Baltimore, MD

The opportunity:

  • Manage all activities related to occupational safety, health and environmental within the manufacturing facility and ensures that the facility is in compliance with OSHA and federal & state

  • Partner with management on the implementation of health and safety programs

  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local environmental, health and safety regulations, ordinances, and laws

How you will impact WestRock:

  • Develop and implement programs and procedures to reduce the frequency and severity of workplace incidents

  • Support a safety culture through training, risk assessments, and behavior based safety programs

  • Coordinate safety and environmental activities and prepare monthly EHS reports for the Plant Manager and Corporate Social Responsibility department; conduct safety audits

  • Lead safety investigations to determine root cause, and make recommendations for corrective actions

  • Develop continuous safety improvement processes; ensure employee involvement; enforcement standards

  • Lead safety training program and conduct new-hire training


What you need to succeed:

  • High school diploma or equivalent is required

  • Associate’s or bachelor’s degree in occupational, Health & Safety sciences or a minimum of 2 year in a Safety, Environmental and Health position

  • Must have knowledge of applicable federal, state, and local regulations

  • Must have a thorough knowledge of record keeping requirements for injury reporting

  • Must have the ability to plan, develop and conduct training sessions and programs regarding safety issues and promotion
