JDE Development Manager - Norcross, GA 

The opportunity:

  • The JDE Development Manager will lead and direct the work of a group of JDE developers in the implementation, enhancement, maintenance and support of the JD Edwards EnterpriseOne system.  This includes the current implementation of Financials, Procurement and Capital Asset Management and the innovation initiatives to fully utilize all of the technical facets of our ERP platform to serve the business needs.
  • The Manager will provide hands-on guidance and direction on technical development work, including interfaces to other WestRock systems.

How you will impact WestRock:

  • Manage the day-to-day activities for a team of 4-6 Developers in support of the JD Edwards software and its interfaces to other WestRock systems.
  • Lead others in technical disciplines by determining priorities, providing coaching and mentoring, and providing constructive feedback.
  • Use senior-level communication skills throughout the organization from end-users through senior-level management to present complex concepts clearly in easily understood terms.
  • Effectively manage relationships with end users, senior management and within IT in a matrixed-resource environment.
  • Isolate application issues vs. other issues and provide initial troubleshooting on JD Edwards application functionality issues with the user community and other IT teams supporting JD Edwards.
  • Be the technical development owner for all JDE modules and functionality currently implemented in WestRock.
  • Transform user requirements to program specifications and communicate effectively with all affected parties throughout the system development life cycle.
  • Provide project leadership experience in the areas of functional design, technical design and technical development.
  • Coordinate technical architecture changes with the CNC team to ensure cross-functional testing and knowledge of system impact.
  • Provide guidance and planning for application and tools release upgrades.
  • Prioritize workload across the team, handle multiple large-scale projects and adhere to project schedules.
  • Contribute in a hands-on developer capacity, as needed, by creating and modifying programs in the JD Edwards OMW development toolkit.
  • Provide regular status updates to the IT Director, JDE and Enterprise Systems regarding team workload, project status, priorities and issues/roadblocks needing resolution.
  • Approve JDE Production promotions as required and as delegated to by Director, JDE and Enterprise Systems.  Evaluate changes for cross-systems impact.  Ensure adequate testing has been performed.
  • Investigate and encourage skills development for yourself and team members to ensure continued growth.
  • Keep in synch with technology trends affecting ERPs and opportunities to leverage existing JDE functionality to meet business requirements.
  • Ensure that the team provides high-level and responsive support to the JDE Support team.  Monitor the help desk system to ensure that cases assigned to the team are addressed promptly.  Make provisions for supporting special off-hours projects from time-to-time.
  • Provide effort estimates based on an understanding of user requirements as well as an evaluation of their feasibility.
  • Liaison with the WestRock CNC team on package builds, security functions, technical system configurations, change management, ESU installation and infrastructure changes affecting the development environment.
  • For maintenance, support and small enhancements, provide day-to-day prioritization and guidance to personnel bearing in mind longer-term strategies and system maintainability.
  • Be an idea champion for the case study, proof of concept, and pilot phases of new and innovative technology initiatives on the JDE E1 platform.

What you need to succeed:

  • Bachelor’s Degree (or equivalent experience) required/MBA strongly preferred.
  • Minimum of 10 years JDE Development Experience on the EnterpriseOne platform with specific experience in the Finance, Procurement, Inventory, Sales and Capital Asset Management modules.
  • Experience with interfaces, web services, BSSV, CBSFN, BI Publisher and IoT is also preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience managing cross-functional teams.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience with relational databases.  MS SQL Server preferred.
  • Knowledge of Agile, Scrum and project methodologies, including acting as the Scrum Master to lead the daily stand up and weekly planning/prioritization for the overall JDE IT resources and initiatives.
  • Hands-on JD Edwards development and configuration skills in a large-scale manufacturing environment on multiple JDE modules.
  • Knowledge of development best practices, standards and procedures with the ability to establish these standards where they are lacking.
  • Ability to identify new and innovative opportunities using the available options in the JDE technical platform and associated technologies.  Will be the champion to initiate and implement these opportunities.
  • Experience with executing formal performance management process with each team member, setting goals for the upcoming year and evaluating and coaching employee performance against those goals
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to communicate up, down and across a matrix organization.  This includes the ability to communicate complex technical information in an easily understandable manner.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize numerous requests for the team and communicate expectations to all impacted stakeholders.
  • Experience with an ITIL change management practice and use of a help desk platform such as ServiceNow to facility SOX and audit requirements for application changes.
  • JDE CNC exposure in areas such as security, package builds, system configuration, ESU analysis and infrastructure.
