THE OPPORTUNITY

WestRock Merchandising Displays is recruiting for a Financial Analyst. This role is responsible for providing analytical support to teams across the division.  This will include assisting with the preparation, coordination and documentation of financial reports related to actual vs. budget performance, sales tracking, customer profitability and fixed cost monitoring. 

Principle Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Designs, establishes, develops, reporting standard for manufacturing, assembly, design and sales.  Reporting areas will include:

    • Monthly/Quarterly Cost 2 Serve (activity-based customer P&L statements)

    • Monthly SG&A Department/Expenses

    • Quote/RFP Log Review (quote value, activity and hit rate)

    • Weekly Sales Funnel Opportunity reviews (Salesforce.com)

  • Review above results with P&L/department owners monthly and lead discussions for preparation of analytics to present to senior management for review

  • Analyzes current business processes (plan vs. actual) to identify areas of constraints and translate into mitigation plans and process improvements

  • Recommends technical/business problem solving solutions that are comprehensive, fiscally responsible and encompasses technology

  • Identifies outliers, leading indicators, trends, and pitfalls to develop proactive mitigation plans

  • Preparation of reports supporting department goals and objectives

  • Designs, establishes, develops, reporting standard for manufacturing, assembly, design and sales

  • Other special projects, reporting as needed

     

    How you will impact WestRock:

  • Providing accurate and timely financial analysis, and supporting variances from budgets and forecasts from a business perspective (separate from traditional accounting reporting)

  • Review and communicate customer profitability reporting at each location with emphasis on understanding key products and customers

  • Support manufacturing and operations by providing analytical support for key manufacturing metrics including OPX, net waste, returns & allowances, machine performance, labor efficiency, capacity, headcount, safety, etc.  Identify gaps and/or under-performance trends and engage the Business Unit management team to develop solutions for operational and financial improvement

  • Provide strategy and capital support by leading the economic analysis of all box plant CPERF economic analysis, run-to-design impacts, footprint optimization and strategic profit improvement initiatives

  • Assist accounting dept with forecasting

  • Work on special projects and perform ad hoc analysis

     

    What you need to succeed

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance

  • 3 – 5 years’ experience

  • Accounting and finance experience in the manufacturing industry

  • Strong analytical skills & attention to detail

  • Good written, verbal communication and collaborative skills

  • Must be able to multi-task and work within tight deadlines

  • Thorough knowledge of Microsoft Excel

  • Knowledge of JD Edwards, Hyperion, Cognos a plus
