Senior Accountant- Norcross, GA

The opportunity:

WestRock is seeking a Senior Accountant located in Norcross, GA.  This individual will report to the Accounting Manager and will work closely with Division, Corporate, Business Unit plant personnel and other internal customers.

 

How you will impact WestRock:

  • Approve staff accountant journal entries as assigned.

  • Function as the Blackline conversion project lead for all HUB accounting reconciliations.

  • RNV liaison who will assist monthly with key problem plants to reduce balances and assist in AVM training.

  • Provide professional expertise and assistance in the continuous improvement process to enhance transactional processing for multiple divisions within the HUB.

  • Utility accrual calculation and analysis.

  • Service Now month-end close support.

  • Calculate and post BOX division bonus accruals, reclasses, and reconciliations.

  • Capital lease amortization entries for the Beverage and SAP Mills divisions, also includes updating the change in debt template for corporate accounting.

  • Building lease payment and equalization entry review and analysis for the Merchandising Displays division.

  • Function as general accounting team lead for impending acquisitions.

  • Comply with SOX controls and GAAP to ensure a solid internal control environment.

  • Interact with internal and external audit groups as needed to explain and provide evidence of process steps and controls.

What you need to succeed:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration

  • 5+ years of accounting experience

  • Large project experience a plus

  • Strong analytical mindset and ability required

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Strong organizational and follow-up skills

  • Ability to work cross functionally with multiple teams in multiple locations

  • Ability to work independently in a professional manner with a team commitment

  • MS Office proficiency with intermediate to advanced Excel Required

  • JD Edwards and Hyperion experience
