Senior Accountant – Norcross, GA (will be based in Sandy Springs from February 2018)

The opportunity:

The Senior Accountant position performs a supporting role in the month end close for the Corporate Office.  Many of his responsibilities must be completed with a high degree of accuracy, under tight deadlines and result in deliverables to manager


How you will impact WestRock:

  • Assist in the handling of the monthly accounting and reporting tasks.

  • Prepares and posts periodic and recurring general ledger journal entries.

  • Responsible for IT fixed assets additions, disposals, and change functions. 

  • Performs balance sheet reconciliations and maintains the supporting schedules.

  • Researches and resolves all reconciling items monthly.

  • Maintains all IT hardware, software, consulting, integration, amortization, and prepaid schedules.

  • Completes variance analysis of the profit and loss statement and consolidated balance sheet. This person will need to be able to evaluate changes in the profit and loss and balance sheet and identify the events to be reported (material or unique) to the appropriate department.    

  • Assists in the maintenance of documentation of policies, procedures, and controls. Perform other duties as assigned and other projects as necessary

 

What you need to succeed:

  • 4-year degree in accounting, CPA preferred

  • 5 + years of related work experience

  • Detail oriented

  • Strong analytical mindset and ability required

  • Practical knowledge and experience with the monthly closing process

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Requires intermediate to advance MS Excel skills as well as familiarity with JD Edwards, Hyperion-SmartView, and similar data retrieval systems
