The Hodge Mill is seeking a Financial Analyst who will be an integral part of the Financial Team working with other departments, Division and Corporate staff to provide data and analysis of Mill operations.
Provide analytical support to one or more of the functional areas of the Hodge mill. Partner with the area team to identify, track and improve key drivers affecting performance and results. Review usage trends, income statement and balance sheet to ensure accuracy and highlight areas of opportunity. Provide reconciliation of balance sheet and high exposure accounts.
Provide financial guidance and tracking for capital, productivity and LSS projects. Identify metrics that will drive the savings and calculate the benefit of those improvements. Monitor the projects monthly and generate savings reports. Work with the project leader(s) to keep projects on track and provide explanations and recovery plans as necessary.
Plan, study, and collect data to determine costs of business activity such as raw material purchases (chemicals, wood, and recycle fiber), inventory and labor. Analyze changes in product design, raw materials, manufacturing methods or services provided, to determine effects on cost. Update SOP’s and enhance instructions for areas of responsibility.
Act as a liaison between local operations and the corporate tax group to ensure maximization of available tax credits and abatements. Refine forecasting and drive cost reduction results in areas related to sales & use tax as well as property tax.
Analyze plant results and provide insight on variances to budgets and forecasts to area managers and the mill leadership team. Conduct ad-hoc analyses to aid in understanding of operations, maintenance and spending trends.
Drive the forecasting and budgeting process for area(s) of responsibility. Communicate current information to ensure the forecasts reflect the most up to date data.
Assist in the development of processes and procedures to improve the quality of financial analysis and drive stronger ownership and accountability of results.
Support the accounting function with the monthly closing process by gathering and analyzing data required for journal entries and statistical postings. Ensure proper accruals are made for open purchase orders. Ensure compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley and audit requirements. Participate in required physical inventories for internal and external audits. Provide requested documentation to both external and internal auditors. Ensure monthly and quarterly compliance with all WestRock accounting policy, review and validate properly functioning internal controls and maintain ledgers in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles.
5-7 years of experience to include Cost Accounting in a Manufacturing Environment
Four-year accounting/finance degree required. MBA, CPA or CMA a plus.
Must be self-starting/self-motivated and able to work independently.
Must have the ability to work in a fast-paced environment, and have a sense of urgency to complete tasks accurately and on time.
Good communication skills including the ability to interact with other levels of management and staff.
Must be proficient in Excel and other Microsoft Office products.
Experience in Kronos, PeopleSoft, JD Edwards and Hyperion a plus.
Six Sigma certification a plus
