Payroll Analyst - Duluth, GA

Career Opportunity:

The Payroll Analyst provides support to the leadership of the payroll function by conducting analysis to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations and WestRock policies and practices; identifying and correcting data anomalies; supporting merger and acquisitions; testing functionality changes; reconciling payroll to controls; developing payroll metrics; and manage projects.

The Payroll Analyst’s responsibilities are included, but are not limited to:

  • Conducts analysis of payroll/time and attendance data

  • Provide data correction actions to payroll for processing

  • Participate in conversion of mergers and acquisitions to PeopleSoft payroll

  • Participate in Tax Update testing

  • Complete in full reconciliation of payroll data each quarter, managing to project plan, conducting a series of complex and comprehensive data controls 

  • Develops Payroll/Time and Attendance metrics and capture statistics each month to monitor the effectiveness current processes.  Identifies improvement opportunities based on the analysis of metrics

  • Serves as Project Manager for Payroll/Time and Attendance projects


What you need to Succeed


  • Five years’ experience and comprehensive knowledge of payroll administration, including federal and state tax regulations and state wage and hour regulations

  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred

  • PeopleSoft HCM 9.2 experience is preferred

  • Experience with Payroll Year End Processing

  • Solid understanding of set up tables, system integration and HCM payroll processes and reporting

  • Experience supporting garnishments, FLSA overtime calculations, various earnings calculations and employee deductions

  • Experience working with multiple state and local tax jurisdictions in North America; Canadian payroll experience is a plus

  • Ability to research and analyze data to ensure accuracy of data processed and reporting

  • Experience with mergers and acquisition integrations a plus

  • Experience in issue resolution, problem solving and facilitating business process redesign

  • Strong organizational, analytical and project management skills required

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills required

  • Ability to work under pressure with set implementation dates while implementing multiple projects simultaneously is essential

  • Proficient using MS Office tools

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment

  • Minimal Travel as required

  • Professional certification in payroll and/or human resources a plus

  • Demonstrated history of successful performance including meeting and exceeding goals desired

  • Demonstrated ability to manage large amounts of complex data
