Accounting Clerk – Aurora Paperboard - Aurora, IL

We currently are seeking an Accounting Clerk for our 100% Recycled Paperboard Mill in Aurora, IL. The person filling this position performs a variety of routine and some non-routine clerical/accounting functions in accordance with standard procedures in one or more of the following areas: General Accounting, Accounts Payable, Inventory Control and Maintenance, or other related Accounting areas using different Software systems and Applications. The candidate applies some advanced skills to the position within various functional areas.  They resolve most questions and problems, and refers only the more complex issues to higher levels.

This role will report to the Plant Controller.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Processing daily AP, credit card, misc. services, and expenses along with PO system review & creation.

  • Troubleshooting issues and reconciliations with vendors and intercompany purchases.

  • Updating of System for Maintenance Parts G/L Accounts, tax codes and cost related information.

  • Maintains accounting of raw material, work in process, and finished goods inventory.

  • Contacts plant personnel, other departments, and/or outside vendors to resolve problems.

  • Helps with local loose waste paper purchasing with local community.

  • Processes daily billings and any credit memo activity.

  • Assist in company policy and Sarbanes/Oxley compliance.

  • Office related functions involving supplies, postage, copiers, meals etc. 

  • Assist in various schedules and analysis for internal and external requests and reporting.

  • Performs Backup Duties for Shipping Department, Customer Service and Purchasing         

  • Maintain EPAM MRO purchase orders with all the correct commodity codes and GL accounts

  • Assist in Safety & HR Department duties when needed.

  • Welcomes visitors by greeting them, in person or on the telephone; answering or referring inquiries.

  • Event planner for all occasions.

  • Maintain ongoing Outbound Freight Accrual

  • Willing to Work OT during tight M/E Closing Schedules

  • Perform Monthly Financial Audit of Mill Storeroom M&R Inventory

 Position Requirements:

  • Proficient in spreadsheet & data base applications.

  • 3-5 years’ experience in accounting related capacities.

  • Knowledge of JD Edwards or another ERP systems a plus.

  • Excellent Customer Service skills

  • Excellent communication skills – both written and verbal

  • Ability to work in changing, multi-system environment with significant attention to detail

  • Ability to work both independently and in a team-oriented environment

  • Will require occasional overtime during month end and system implementations.

  • Bilingual in English & Spanish a plus.
